Why Cruz Trumps Trump
http://www.rightwingnews.com ^ | 7/30/2015 | Roert Cleveland

EVERYONE has been talking about Donald Trump lately. It seems that almost the entirety of election coverage has either been about the latest thing that Donald Trump said, or the media asking other candidates to react to the latest thing that Donald Trump said.

But here’s the thing: regardless of how loudly or boldly Donald Trump is advocating for certain conservative issues, he would make a horrible president. Just the fact that he is such an egotistical hothead makes him a bad pick, but when you look at what the Democrats, particularly President Obama and those in his administration (oftentimes in collusion with Republican leadership in Congress) have done to Constitutional separation of powers, Donald Trump is probably the LAST person we need in the White House. He likes to throw his weight around, he insists on getting his way…kind of like Barack Obama does when Congress opposes him on certain issues. Trump doesn’t seem like the kind of person who will act within the law to get things done – if he wants something done, he’ll get it done, and if he has the power of the Presidency behind him, well, the law be damned. President Obama set the precedent, and we can’t afford to allow that to continue.

The Republican field is comprised of somewhere around one hundred and twenty-seven candidates. It’s crowded on that stage, but the only real draw for Donald Trump that separates him from the rest of the pack is that he yells loudly and has obnoxious hair. The press is only obsessed with him because they know that, eventually, he’s going to put his foot in his mouth. They watch him and talk about him constantly and ask other candidates for their opinion on his remarks for one and only one reason: they know that the Trump train will wreck, and they want to get it on film when it happens.

And then there’s this: Video at Link

Here’s the thing: Ted Cruz has been consistently fighting for conservatism for years. He hasn’t waffled back and forth, he hasn’t been donating to the Clinton slush fund. He is an eloquent defender of small-government conservatism, unafraid to engage progressives on their own turf – even the progressives in the Republican Party. A lot of people like Trump because he’s loud, but one of the problems with politics in America today is that it’s already too much of a shouting match. There is no need to take the worst aspects of our political system and kick it up a notch, not when we can bring some logic and maturity to fight the Left’s constant campaign against these things.

Simply by engaging with these Code Pink wackos for a few minutes, Ted Cruz laid out a logical, factual, respectful argument, and let the the other side’s illogic speak for itself. Put Donald Trump in that same situation, and all you would get is a shouting match.

Ted Cruz is a man who understands history. He understands the law. He has the ability to engage in a clear-headed debate even with the rabid left-wing wackos of Code Pink.

And, on top of that, he can actually be presidential. This is something that has been missing from the Office of the President under Presidents Obama and Clinton, and it is something that would be sorely lacking should Donald Trump win the presidency.

So to all of the conservatives out there who are jumping on the Trump Train: I get it. It feels great to see someone loudly shouting in support of conservative political positions…but do you know where Donald Trump stands on all of the important issues facing our nation these days? Do you really want a president who will, in all likelihood, continue President Obama’s trend of violating Separation of Powers when he doesn’t get his way…or would you prefer to have a true conservative in office.

Of course Cruz read the TPA bill. Even I read the TPA Bill which was fully public. He has read the current version of TPP, but that agreement has not been completed yet. When it is, he will read and evaluate the entire agreement. I already know Cruz will not vote for it because Obama is the worst negotiator on earth.

TPP is going to pass. It only needs 51% vote , no amendments , and no debate etc. The Obama trade agenda will be imposed on us and the world.

Since you say he will vote no then I Guess he changed his mind:

I think Trump is going to have a moment, a liberal moment (immigration or social issues) that is going to make some conservative primary voters rethink their pick. The Donald is a shrewd businessman and I loved reading his books, but on social issues, heck even on economic issues he was or is liberal or left of center. I have little doubt that Trump loves this country, which is more than I can say about any of the Dems and some Republicans, but his waffling should be a giant red flag for conservative voters.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed explaining why Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) is needed, how it holds the Executive Branch accountable, and how it establishes a transparent, democratic process for future trade agreements

A very astute and correct analysis.....he's gonna have those moments, BECAUSE ITS IN THERE. ITS WHO HE IS. A 65 year old Zebra cannot change his spots by the time he's 69. Doesn't work that way.

By the way, he had a couple of moments just like that....and I called him out (after praising him) - and still got lit up by the kool aid fan bois.

Why Trump is connecting with voters and why some are not.

A NH focus group speak about Trump. Watch and listen.

“Trump focus group is so STUNNING to Morning Joe panel they play it TWICE in a half hour”

No doubt that Ted Cruz is the real candidate, but Americans believe what the media told them and They won’t vote for Ted. Trump is most likely going to be a Trojan horse.

As Cruz likes to say "the real vote is the cloture vote" and with otrade the real vote was the TPA vote. We have been over this many times and everyone knows the real vote on otrade was the TPA vote. Claiming otherwise is dishonest sophistry. However it should be noted that after having his head handed to him by conservatives he changed his mind and voted against TPA in a rare second chance vote.

I like Cruz but he is often wrong on issues that are not in his area of expertise. Like Trade and foreign relations. His wanting to punish Egypt for ousting the Moslem Brotherhood government was almost as bad as Cain's not knowing what the "right of return" meant.

Big deal. By then it’s too late. TPA is a done deal because of fast track.

Thanks for the information ...

Ted Cruz voted “against” TPA the second time because, as I understand it, McConnell-Boehner had secretly attached the Ex-Im Bank extension to it ...

Congressional legislation is “not” my specialty ... it’s often a deep mystery to almost everyone ...

The Bill that was passed was not a trade agreement. It was a Trade Authorization Agreement.

TPP is Obamatrade. It isn’t complete and hasn’t been voted on.

Of course I don’t support the Iran deal and neither does Cruz.

I have nothing to say bad about Cruz. Except he is a politician. Trump is a businessman and I believe we need a man like him in there. The man you see in the media is not the man he actually is.
I have tried voting for GOP conservatives only to be sadly disappointed.

Again ... you’re talking out of your nose ...

I had a face-to-face (two hour) dinner with Pastor Rafael Cruz on June 20 in Fort Lauderdale ... sitting three feet away ...

and Pastor Rafael Cruz assured me that his son (Ted Cruz) had read “every single one” of several hundred TPA’s pages ...

I’ll take Pastor Rafael Cruz’s words over your blatantly bravo-serria fantasy comments ... any day of the week.

Go take a hike ... Ron Paul wants you to make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ...

.

TPA, Trade Promotion Authority, was passed with Cruz voting “No” because of the shady shenanigans of McConnell. TPP has not been completed yet and may not be voted on for months. Because TPA was passed, that guarantees the public a sixty day viewing of TPP before it is voted on by Congress. Without TPA, we wouldn’t know what was in it.
