We have a moral imperative to burn carbon dioxide-emitting fossil fuels because the energy they provide is a liberator of humanity, says Dr. John Christy, a climatologist and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama, Huntsville.
We are not morally bad people for taking carbon and turning it into the energy that offers life to humanity in a world that would otherwise be brutal, Christy wrote in a recent op-ed. On the contrary, we are good people for doing so.
He also challenged what he says are contradictions in Pope Francis encyclical, Laudato Si, in which the pontiff called climate change one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day. [ ]
On May 13, Christy told the House Committee on Natural Resources that even if the U.S. completely eliminated its fossil fuel emissions, so that there would be no industry, no cars, no utilities, no peoplethe impact on global temperatures would be so tiny as to be immeasurable.
The two largest impacts on temperature are the El Niños in the Pacific as well as volcanic eruptions, which shade the Earth when they put the dust and smoke in the stratosphere. So once you account for both of those, theres not a whole lot of warming in the planet, Christy told CNSNews.com.

The data is in. We must act.
I need a muscle car, or boat or something.
That is my encyclical.
Since the dinosaurs gave their lives so we could have coal, we owe it to them.
I’m sure sometime in the next year or so, Planned Parenthood will become an energy company.
This effort to make energy less available, less reliable, and more expensive is at a level of societal insanity comparable to that which overwhelmed the Xhosa in 1856 when the prophetess of doom, Nongqawuse, convinced them that salvation lay in destroying all their cattle and crops. This will not turn out well.
Yes. Even using the warmists suspect numbers, the announced changes in temperature are unable to be felt. Yet more indication that the climate isn't their chief concern; it's just good ol' Marxist hatred of the bourgeoisie middle class.
God put “fossil fuels” here for us to use until He returns.
Fossil fuels are organic and all natural.

Thanks Olog-hai.
Of course, the struggling survivors would produce a "brown cloud" from burning wood and other materials, not unlike the cloud over parts of India and other parts of Asia.

WHA? This guy better have a good life insurance policy!
No problems with the brown cloud, as it only harms humans; but it doesn’t contribute to Gorebal Warming, because it is mainly created by renewable, not fossil, fuels.
That is a win-win for Warmists, as it doesn’t harm Mother Gaia, while taking out humans in several different ways...at least until the Treehugger Clan begins raising cain over their sacred groves being cut for firewood.
As for me, I have 300 acres of pine lands, and local surface sources of low grade coal; and two of my wood burners also have coal grates. With -25 to -35 winter temps a week or three, fuel-free freeze distilling fuel grade ethanol would also be feasible.
