Murdered TV Reporter's Dad Just Vowed to "shame" legislators to pass gun control
8/26/15

Posted on 08/26/2015 6:24:52 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Ann Coulter is going to be on the Megyn File....so I tuned in.

The murdered girl's father and boy friend made a joint appearance....they really seemed to be almost comfortable.

Now look, we all mourn differently...yet the two seemed so at ease on the subject. Maybe the shock of what happened has them in a daze. But at the end of the interview, the father vowed to "shame" people into accepting gun control....but he DID speak about guns being kept out of the hands of mentally ill people.

I thought the law already did that.

Now Megyn has a former Obama deputy press secretary on. The guy is clamoring for gun control.....NOT A WORD ABOUT THE MURDERER'S RACISM AND HETEROPHOBIA.

I blame the Dr. Spock lazy parenting. All these people acting out in violent manners were the kids you saw having a complete temper tantrum meltdowns because no one disciplined them.

There is no such thing as gun violence.....unless you are a troll here.

Guns cannot shoot themselves....when they can, get back to me.

I’ve had CNN all day ( monitoring them) and not once have I heard any of Cuomo on the scene or any of the news anchors bring up gun control. If they did, I missed it.

They have interviewed privious co-workers, the man who encountered him in a road rage, a lawyer that represented him in a discrimination case 15 years ago (not reveal outcome of out of court settlement), psychiatrist and crimminologiest.

They have brought up he said he was “sexually harassed” because he was gay. He was dismissed because he work was below standards, citing he had problems with being factual. He was so enraged, that there was slammming going on and a sales team hid and locked themselves in a room until the police came after him.

Oh, and the guy who said he was followed by the shooter: he was across the street from the tv station and driving over 100 miles an hour and playing chicken with his breaks.

The gun control fanatics came out of the woodwork in record time.

I understand the father’s grief, I’ve lost very special people too. Go into town to see when I pick a lady up for our first date the next night, and her best friend has to tell me she was killed by a drunk driver two nights ago. (I lived 45 minutes away) I’m not trying to have cars banned. The car didn’t do it.

Same here, it’s not the gun’s fault and from what I can see of the guy’s background, nothing there a background check would have caught. A disgruntled employee does not a serial killer make...A few minor run ins with former employees, some general anger problems apparently strongly related to race, nothing there that would indicate he shouldn’t be able to own a gun.

Don’t tell me about his 23 page manifesto, it didn’t exist yet. Background check would not have caught that either.

Same as several of the mass shooters in the past. Nothing you could put your finger on to cause a red flag in a background check, one day he walks into a theater and shoots a dozen people. Some did show troubling signs, but nobody around them really knew what to look for.

And the first thing people want to do is blame it on the gun.

So look back through history. Know who built the first roads? The Romans nearly 2000 years ago. (maybe earlier I can’t remember exactly) Why? Highway robbers were causing havoc with merchants, who traveled on rutted dirt tracks, a little rain and they were near impassable, any clump of trees was an ambush point and the Roman army couldn’t get there to do anything about it because of the same rutted dirt tracks that served as roads.

So they built paved roads that still are usable today in some places and put guard stations at regular intervals.

Guns didn’t exist for several hundred years.

So let’s say you do manage to outlaw guns. Criminals will hand their guns over right? Yeah right...Background checks do almost nothing already because criminals get guns on the black market. You think the gang members in Chicago get guns from local gun dealers and pawn shops where they have to pass background checks? Not a chance...Will they simply hand their guns over to police or government because they are suddenly declared illegal? Nope. They’ll be the only ones who still have them.

And we will be exactly what they want. Easy targets. Unarmed victims.

Guns don’t kill, people do. Remember that...I’ll repeat it...guns don’t kill, people do.

In this case I see the same thing as in several other instances. People are clamoring for gun control before we even know the real reason it happened. People should never even consider any drastic course of action until they have time to get past the emotional and think it through from a logical viewpoint.

Ban guns, the killing will not stop. It will simply be done with different weapons. No guns? OK they;ll use knives and swords. Take those, say hello to clubs and rocks. Notice a backward trend there? People were killing each other 10,000 years ago with flaked pieces of rock attached to sticks.

Look up Kennewick Man. Skeleton found on the Columbia River I think, along the Washington, Oregon border. Found to be almost 10,000 years old, and had a broken spear point in his hip, that was surrounded by partially calcified bone. That means it partially healed before he died, presumably from gangrene. Guns didn’t exist for 8000 years plus.

You will not stop crime, or even violence, by banning any type of weapons. People need to realize that. Mankind is inherently violent, as much as it pains me to say that. As peaceful and laid back as I try to be, I have a temper and will defend myself with deadly force as well if need be. I learned to control that temper long ago, the last time I started a fight I was in 5th grade. And provoked. Look through the Bible and you will see strong evidence that people were very violent as far back as written history goes. Same for all written history no matter what the source.

It’s not a gun problem we have, it’s a social problem. Also a discipline problem. Kids have not been taught any morals or discipline, nor value of human life, the so called entertainment they are addicted to is primarily oriented around violence, in some cases I’m not really sure they actually realize if you shoot someone he’s not coming back for another episode next week.

Gun control will not work. It will most likely make matters worse. People are highly frustrated with the world they live in. They are seriously frustrated with the so called leaders they have elected to run things in DC...as the current election campaign attests. The top 3 candidates are not career politicians for a reason.

The average person sees no hope for the future, everything he was told this world has to offer is swirling down the drain daily. Prices going up and his paycheck going down. Taxes increasing. Jobs going bye bye.

I saw a saying not long ago that I thought described it pretty well...

Reaganomics - You built a company in your parents’ garage.
Obamanomics - You move into your parents’ garage.

The dismal shape this world is in has people extremely frustrated. And the increase in population combined with the greater saturation of news due to the information age, means more people are doing this kind of thing and it’s being more widely and quickly reported. It hits the news and explodes on social media.

That doesn’t mean a greater percentage of society is engaging in this kind of evil, we’re just more aware of it. I’d almost bet it’s still the same 1% of society perpetrating this type of evil as it always was, we are just more aware of it.

But banning the weapons they use will not stop it. I don’t know what will work, but I know what won’t. That’s already been proven.

More guns equate to more safety. It's as simple as that. The so-called “Wild West” was, in reality, the perfect example of a polite society. Nearly everyone was armed and crime rates were infinitesimal.

Another good source is Gunfighters, Highwaymen & Vigilantes -Violence on the Frontier where the author, Roger D. McGrath, focusing on Bodie, California, the wildest, Wild West town of all, shows that the Wild West wasn't that wild after all, but mentions that crime in New York City at that time was much higher.

When you lose your daughter to gun violence...

What?!?!?

This is Free Republic -- not a communist-run venue for liberal posts. There has never been a single person killed by so-called "gun violence". A gun is just a mechanism. It's the leftist behind the gun responsible for the murder today NOT THE GUN!

Being pro-God means being pro-gun!

I actually like Don Lemon in the evening. He is on now in CST. He is calmly interviewing Dr. Ben Carson. I watch Morning Joe in the morning and I enjoy watching the heads explode on this or that, but lately with Hillary in the tank, they have all been consumed with covering Trump, and doing it VERY fairly. Mika seems outright respectful, admiring of him. It beats O’REALLY and Kelly trying to outshine every guest they stick across from them, by miles.

Exactly, and he did not seem overly upset. it really seemed strange to me that her father and boyfriend were doing an interview, seemingly calm, after their daughter/girlfriend was murdered on television merely 15 hrs earlier.

Rita, you are just like me. I make it a point to DVR Morning Joe when I think their heads are going to explode on an issue. They seem very unself-conscious when they talk to each other around the table, maybe because they know, no one is watching ( except you and me.)

I did watch part of Don Lemon this evening, he is not doing any gun, race or heterosexual baiting this evening. They all seem very sympathetic about this mass shooting and are not pointing fingers at outside influences. They are treating the shooter as responsible for his own murderous actions.

Thank God for Hannity. I have always trusted him. He gets redundant, but his values and conservatism runs throughout. Fox is so disappointing otherwise and they seem to be late to the game and have thin original reporting. Lots of commentary, tho, by the same old hacks.

If he gives my guy a fair hearing without the Me-again Kelly approach, then he is a communist who bests her and is a damn fair reporter.

I like Don Lemon in the evening.

Missed the beginning of the program, and haven’t found a video of the interview in your post. Below are a few videos from the program.

Also - there is a push for gun control through the back door. A few articles have said that since the corker bill passed, it would be possible for the senate to ratify the UN small arms treaty with only 51 votes.

I DVR MJ. I hated the over perky girls on F&F and the sophomoric discussions. I was so scandalized by the limbs and legs and cleavage flying, I was embarrassed for the guys to ruminate on what they were saying. I discovered they were never saying anything, actually. LOL!

MJ are addicts like me. Political addicts, no distractions, no diversions, just hard news and longer segments without interruption like FOX uses (with ads as long as their programming.)
