Lunch will not be served by a food truck in Southwest Miami-Dade after it was destroyed in a propane tank explosion.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, the explosion was so powerful, some nearby homes suffered minor damage.

The closest to a propane tank explosion is called a BLEVE. This was not one.

I was in the Army with a Mexican guy, when he went to the latrine he could empty out the whole barracks. Like a WMD going off. It was so bad a black guy punched him out one day for laughing about it. True story.

I’m surprised explosions like this don’t happen more often. Food trucks use burners fueled by natural gas tanks, and anything going wrong could result in potential tragedy.
Yep. It’s why firefighters let an existing fire burn in a derailment while pouring water on adjacent tank cars.
The existing Class B fire can be managed and arguably presents a lower environmental risk than letting the contents leak all over.
It’s a dangerous world out there.
The worst gas I ever had was after eating my Mother-in-law’s chili.
The next day I was constantly doubled up with pain, then passed the gas and cleared out whole sections of the open air steel plant where I worked. Passing the gas relieved the pain for a little while till it hit again. It was really that bad as after 44 years I still remember it.
I never ate her chili again, and never eat anything with kidney beans in it.

Anyone remember when the HOLIDAY ON ICE revue was partially destroyed by a propane explosion, about 52 years ago? 74 people in the audience were killed.

When I was nine, our house exploded with us inside due to a gas leak. Well head gas, no odorizer in it. It sent our lives into a tailspin for years.
