One recent college graduate is so frustrated with her lack of job prospects that she's attempting to sell off her college degree - for $50,000. Stephanie Ritter, a 26-year-old Florida State University alum, has listed her diploma on eBay for the staggering sum to cover the 'actual cost' of attending the school. Now $40,000 in debt and living in Southern California, Stephanie is fed up with being unable to find a job in her field, despite having a Bachelor's degree - so she's come up with a drastic solution to pay off her loans and 'validate my use of time between 2007-2011'.

Before even reading the article I checked out the photo of the diploma. As I thought, she graduated with a useless degree in this case Theatre. I guess majoring in STEM or a health care related field was too difficult for Miss Ritter or not what she dreamed she wanted to be. You can get away with crap majors at elite institutions but might as well burn $50 K if you decide to do that at non-selective schools like FSU.

Getting a degree in the “arts” is worthless. You either have the talent or you don’t. Nobody on Broadway says “oooohhh, you have a degree!! We need you for the lead in “Cats”.

That BA in Theater would be golden if only she had thought to minor in Sub-Saharan Homoerotic Dance and Literature. Now, that’s an awesome combination that would have certainly landed her a six-figure starting salary.

Bachelor of Arts — in Theatre.

Stats from several decades ago showed more than 1/2 of those with college degrees were working in fields/jobs not associated with their college degrees.

It’s the chicken coming home to roost, as she probably voted for Obama. She’s learning the hard way that, Presidential elections have consequences when you treat it as a popularity contest.

In addition to offering the actual piece of paper, Stephanie will give the buyer a tour of campus and access to her memories on Facebook

I do believe employment counseling and living in the real world should be mandatory first year courses.

My friend and fellow professional engineer, married a gal who spent $50,000 in student loans for a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy. Her first job out of grad school was $10/hr answering phones as a suicide prevention hotline! I guess they hired her because of advanced degree in “therapy”...

Sounds like she is perfectly qualified for any of the food service or pole-dancing industries.

Along with that Theater major she should have minored in carpentry - at least she could have gotten a job building sets. And it’s still SHOW BIZ.

I suspect this story is planted, to push an agenda - in particular Hillary’s agenda to wave a magic taxpayer wand and bribe young voters with student loan forgiveness.

The only other more worthless degree is Master of Library Science - like you need a masters degree to check out books or do information requests!

So I take it ‘art therapy’ is nothing like restoring old paintings and such.

Is it ‘psychological therapy’ for old fogies (like me) who’s been traumatized by the so-called modern art?

She could find a job working at the snack bar in a movie theatre. I don’t feel sorry for her. If she were as smart as she thinks she is she would have chosen a major that required classes in math and science instead of a fun major. If she had skipped college altogether she could have started working in the snack bar years ago and she would be a manager by now without any college debt.

Apparently Miz Stephanie was too freakin’ dumb to have ever heard of the law of supply and demand - you can’t sell what there’s no demand whatsoever for.

“Theatre” for Pete’s sake...

Anyone who thinks the piece of paper (formerly sheepskin) itself is the “degree” is too stupid to earn one in the first place.

My guess is it teaches art as a therapy for life’s woes.

But she is a really good artist but I’m not sure she need to go to grad school for a degree though.
