They say she violated their rights. If she did, they need to charge her with the statute that was violated.

The gays might have a  case if Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was issuing marriage licenses to normal people but not the gays but in fact she is issuing them to no one and there is no Kentucky or Federal law demanding such. Only long standing custom and partly because the counties make money from issuing them.

In a way Kim Davis and her county government are going Galt. Dropping out of the marriage license game because the gays have polluted it

"...the homosexuals could have gone to just about any other county in Kentucky to get that license"

Exactly. The two queers were on the news and both of the them were standing at the counter asking Mrs Davis why she was denying them a license. You could hear the two faggots getting upset and speaking to her in queer talk. Hilarious.

Your reply is the rational one.

There are many legal inaccuracies in this thread that I won’t go into, but the concept that each person decides what is Constitutional and therefore legal, and what is not is simply another description of anarchy.

Secondly, the concept that one’s religious principles override legal ones is also very dangerous. What if someone decided that no one working in her office could eat meat on Friday? If it is argued that we are a Judaeo-Christian country, what if a Jewish office holder, or Christian Seventh Day Adventist, demanded her County office be closed from sundown Friday through sundown Saturday?

Also, there was a much easier legal out here. Governor could simply have removed her from office and made the entire matter moot.

All in all, you are very right. If you feel you are entitled to break the law, be ready to pay the price. We may commend you for it, but you will still be in jail.

But contempt of court is against the law.

That is the law she broke.

You make a very reasoned argument.

I don’t think most of us care.

She is taking a stand against judicial tyranny.

The legitimacy of the judicial system rests upon the people being in agreement that the judges are fairly interpreting the law. The Supreme Court is increasingly losing that agreement, and thus losing what gives them authority.

I sympathize with your opinion but as a matter of civil law and by analogy, clerks were obliged to register 18 year-old voters even though the law required voters to be 21 when the clerks first took their jobs. IMHO, this clerk should simply have resigned in protest; the civil law will be observed until changed.

acting on her personal beliefs

The way one acts defines one's personal beliefs. One cannot act contrary to one's personal beliefs.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

“…………….the lady clerk (ELECTED OFFICE) in Kentucky sits in jail, and was offered freedom if she allowed assistant clerks to sign QUEER MARRIAGE LICENSES……….she refused once again. “

Because her name will still appear on the license. A judge has offered to sign the docs. but the gays will have nothing of it.
They want to force Davis to sign the licenses.

If there ever was an example of Political Prisoner, this is it.

No, but the Federal Government did by violating her 1st Amendment rights! Impeach the Federal Judge!
