Tuesday's report ("Death blow to centuries of cultural heritage") left me angry, disappointed and sad.
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and all other parties which have shown disrespect and have destroyed centuries-old artefacts and historic sites must be severely punished.
One of the punishments should be to make them pay for restoring the artefacts and sites to their former state.
There is nothing wrong with people not sharing the same religious beliefs as others.
That being said, to show disrespect and to destroy artefacts, heritage and religious monuments are acts that must not be tolerated and must be forever condemned.
All citizens, governments and national leaders must protect such items and places, as they are a part of humanity's culture and history.
Does this apply to the Confederate flag haters too?

I could not say it any better. What I see today and the response of our enlightened modern society is heartbreaking. To think that we hand this garbage off to our next generation enrages me more than I can articulate properly.

Barry the “History” man agitator wants all traces of all American history wiped out so the history books of the future will contain no real history. Only history of him going to Alaska to “rename” Mt. Denali as Mt. Denali. Phony Baloney stuff.

We have recently seen destruction of American historical statues, flags, written documents and all sorts of historical items and written histories of our country’s founding and of the great accomplishments our ancestors performed.
You better get a grip on just who you worry about because the Historical history of America is blowing up in front of your face.
Population will decline radically as the world's arable land is large ly converted to sheep pasture with some Mediterranean crops grown here and there. The sheep lands will become semi arid as has happened to North Africa which once furnished Rome with abundant cereal grains. Large scale sheep grazing seems to dry up the rains. It will be a truly bleak world and immune to progress. Warfare will become the principal non ovine related activity as the different tribes and clans and sects with slightly different thoughts and allegiances slaughter each other. Perhaps there will be sandworms.
It needs to be done properly so that they come straight down and don’t mess up the Church.
Cultural genocide is being imposed by ISIS and is part in parcel with their beheadings and burning to death. It is being done to gin up the monsters in their ranks (most or all of them). I have no interest in destroying their great mosques. Kill them and leave the monuments of their culture empty as a warning of what happens when you have a religion like Islam which demands the death or servitude of all others.
The monuments of Rome warn of what happens when a culture becomes eventually weak and degraded.

What about the US sponsored Kosovo Albanian savages who destroyed all those medieval Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries?
