A powerful earthquake has hit central Chile, causing buildings to sway in the capital Santiago.
The 7.9-magnitude tremor centred off the coast, about 153 miles (246km) north-west of the capital. Chilean officials said it measured 7.2.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned that "widespread hazardous tsunami waves are possible".
There were no immediate reports of damage, Chile's emergency office was quoted as saying by Reuters.

We had a little roller around 10 this morning....4.5 in the mountains by Big Bear lake; that’s probably 70 or 80 miles from here - hope the “ring” isn’t about to bust............if we stand in the driveway, we can see the lower San Andreas fault down in the base of the Coachella Valley (it’s easy to spot due to the rifts that allow natural springs and native palm tree formations).
