Republican US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has asked Entertainment giant Walt Disney to hire back every employee they replaced with low-wage H-1B workers, including Indians, and vowed to take action against firms that replace American workers if elected to the top job.
Disney in June had laid off about 250 employees and replaced them with Indians holding H1-B visas. "I am calling today on Disney to hire back every one of the workers they replaced...," Trump said.
If elected, Trump said he would take action against companies that replace American workers.

I would greatly prefer that Disney find competent American workers to fix their IT fiasco. I do routinely use Disney IT, and it would be nice for it to no longer suck.
But that’s not what Trump said. He said he’d force Disney to keep its current incompetent workforce in place, and you agree. You said above that you don’t care how incompetent they are, Trump is right (that Disney be forced to keep them on payroll).
Rah Rah America, Americans, apple pie and hot dogs. Since when did being an American give you the right to keep your job no matter how badly it’s done? Since when is it a great thing for the government to interfere in employee/employer relationships to the point of forcing that relationship? I’m pretty sure the thing that makes America great is a philosophy rooted in the kinds of freedoms that rebel at the notion of compelling such relationships.
I’m pretty sure that Trump would have no problem firing people for cause or incompetence. You know.. that “you’re fired!” thing and all.
But if you ask me, if I were in a consultative rather have incompetent Americans than incompetent Indians any day of the week. I cringe at dealing with Indian IT, personally.
I would love for Disney to fix its IT problems. I have much concern that HB1s aren’t going to do the trick.
That does not mean I would like to see Disney compelled by President Trump to keep the American workers that caused the problems in the first place on payroll.
The HB1 issue is very peripheral to what he actually said. What he actually said is that he’d use the full power and force of the federal government to compel an employer to keep on payroll employees that they do not want.
How about what action can WE take? They won't make money without our patronage. Let's hold back the money we would pay to go there.
The question, are enough of us in this country outraged enough to do it?

The entire point of the My Magic Plus architecture that is at the center of this discussion is to manage overflowing crowds.
Disney had something like 19 million visitors in Orlando last year and more like 30 million visitors when you throw in other places like Anaheim and Aulani. So, roughly 10% of the US population (although a significant portion weren’t Americans).
Let’s say, for argument same, 20% of the US pop boycotts Disney because of the new President’s bully pulpit. That would be an amazing result, 60 million Americans saying no to Disney. That would translate to about 6 million actual visitors this year. Disney’s attendance would drop to 24 million.
Except it wouldn’t. Disney’s parks are so crowded right now, many won’t go for that reason. If the crowds thin, even a little, others not currently going to Disney will fill the slack.
If not, Disney has become a master at planning year round events to keep the parks full. Star Wars Weekends, Flower and Garden Fest, Food and Wine, half marathons, free dining etc.
The whole point of My Magic Plus is to shape already overflowing crowds to make them manageable.

Besides, ESPN is owned by Disney, and ESPN owns college ball. If you want to boycott Disney, then you can’t watch college football today.
His wishes happen to conform to existing federal law that is never enforced. Trump wants to start enforcing it.

Could the workers who were let go file a class action lawsuit?

What federal law says employers must continue to retain employees they deem incompetent?
More importantly, you support that?
Orlando is a unique job market. Disney and Universal cast a huge footprint over that market and there isn’t a large enough labor pool to fill the need.
They look all over the world for entry level workers My niece was hired out of Texas to work in Orlando.
Skilled jobs? Who’s willing to relocate for those?

I’m sorry, but you are erecting a strawman. I would locate to Orlando for a good job from Philly. The law says Disney needed to try to fill the jobs with Americans first. There is no indication that was the case, and the same thing happened with my company when they axed a division - and that was up in Boston - do you want to try and tell me that you can’t find adequate IT workers in the Boston metro area? This is all about flaunting the law to axe good-paying jobs for Americans. If you applaud that, screw you.
But you make my point. Phily isn’t Orlando. Disney and Universal together hire about 130,000 employees.
You aren’t willing to relocate. I don’t blame you. I’m not a college kid either. I’m settled in my life and wouldn’t move to Orlando or anywhere for a job.
You say there isn’t any indication they tried to look locally. But that’s speculation on your part. There is no indication they didn’t and given the nature of the publicity, somebody would have dug up evidence (as oppose to pushing agendas) that they did violate the law.
But H1Bs are only peripheral to Trumps comments. He didn’t call for ending the HB1 contracts. That’s something I would have been neutral about. Given the Orlando job market, they might or might not have done their due diligence.
If they hired H1Bs without trying to find American replacements, I hope some court frags them. I really do. It is entirely the government’s Constitutional prerogative to determine under what immigration rules people can come and work in this country. If those rules were violated, throw the damn book.
And yet, I will never believe it’s the government prerogative to force a private sector employer to hire and pay employees they don’t want.

Trump is specifically addressing the H-1B abuses that Disney is engaging in.
Trump is REIGNITING the AMERICAN WAY. He is putting America and Americans first instead of putting us last like Obama, the Clintons, and the liberal Left have done. He is going to start waking people up to the difference between right and wrong, breaking the law or supporting and obeying the law, that actions have consequences and people in high office are going to be held accountable for their criminal acts. and perhaps ,most importantly, he is going to give back to Americans the pride we once felt in being American. There is going to be a very large price to pay under a Trump presidency by those who would destroy America. He loves America. He loves our military. He loves the American Way. What more do we need? He can WIN!
