I read a lot of opinion and "fact" from the gun-control lobby and its acolytes on Facebook and social media. Much of it is fear based and misleading if not outright falsehoods. Just responding with verified fact isn't likely to change minds because those with a particular mindset will not likely change by reading an article (if they even go so far as to read it.)
I think it would be valuable to offer to bring your friend to the range to introduce them to guns and demonstrate to them safety and the proper handling of weapons.
For many, I believe it is the fear of the unknown - most people who are not in the "gun culture" have been indoctrinated by the gun control lobby and movies and popular culture. If they realize that a gun doesn't just "go off" when handled properly, maybe some of the fear will be reduced.
Thanksgiving week would be a great week, as many families get together and you can bring your favorite lib to the range.

I worked with a guy back in 1984. He went back to college and was convinced that to be smart your had to be progressive.
His wife told him that with the birth of their daughter she wanted all those nasty guns out of the house.
Marlin model 60, Mossberg 500 12 ga and a Marlin 30/30. $150.00 later I was happy to take those firearms away so everyone could sleep better.
He handles his finances like a liberl too.

Someone on another thread remarked that they got their
materials for molding their own BULLETS from spent metal
from the bullets at firing ranges. (I suppose they wait
until the ranges close for the day before they collect
the metal!)
Frankly, I am NOT interested in arming my liberal friends.
I have got the forms for the carry permit several times but each time asked myself- do I really want my name on that particular list? Of course now, with my eyesight getting poor I have sold or given away all my guns.
I have an old friend of half a century’s standing. He was a sensible teenager once who was suspicious of government. Now he is a UF professor who has assumed all the appropriate attitudes. He gets quiet when guns are discussed, though. His house was broken into when his wife was home 20 years ago and she barely got out the back door and over the back fence. He has a gun now, a .357 I think, and goes to the range from time to time. I’m not supposed to know that.
We think exactly alike on that.
With your eyesight being so bad, you were smart to sell and give them away. Now you can get a squirt gun if they haven’t been banned.
I was on the way to the Post Office to mail the forms and some old ladies stole my guns so I turned around and didn’t mail them. Saved me some postage.

Liberal “Friends” will be the first to rat out Gun Owners if the Government ever goes rouge and decides Gun Confiscation is the key to achieve Utopian success.
Not necessarily just “liberals”. I don’t trust many people these days. Maybe I’m just old and paranoid or maybe I’ve learned things the hard way.

Hard to believe that we would ever feel this way living in the United States of America, isn’t it?
The divide between People like us who love America as Founded and those who think it should be changed into some Liberal Utopia boggles the mind.
I seriously doubt that divide will ever be healed. Our enemies, and that is exactly what they think we are to them, own Private and Public Education, so called Entertainment, Government Unions and the Media Monster.
Conservatives are at a disadvantage before we even get to the Starting Gate. All we can do is hope and Pray it isn’t too late for our Republic to survive.
Being an Old Guy myself, I’ll be long gone no matter what happens.
For myself, I don’t worry too much. I’ll probably be gone before things get really bad.
I worry for my kids and grand kids. They will never know the America I grew up in.
