Marco Rubio Asked Scott Walker to Endorse Him

Marco Rubio, looking to capitalize on a wave of momentum, is pushing to win the support of a former rival: Scott Walker.

After last weeks debate in Boulder, Colorado, Rubio tried to initiate a phone call with the Wisconsin governor, who dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination in September. A source close to Walker, who requested anonymity to discuss the outreach, said the two connected by phone late last week.

That conversation, which lasted 15 to 20 minutes, began with friendly banter. The Florida senator asked Walker what hed been up to since he departed the primary. Toward the end of the conversation, the source said, Rubio made a 'hard ask' for Walkers support.

Walker, though, is not planning on making an immediate endorsement of anyone in the GOP field. During the conversation, the Wisconsin governor told Rubio that he had not made a decision on who he will back and that he would not announce his support for a candidate until after the start of 2016.

While Walker has been courted by a number of Republican candidates since his exit, those close to the Wisconsin governor say Rubio is the first to formally ask him for his endorsement.

In recent weeks, Rubio also has made an aggressive push to win over Walkers financial supporters. Last month, Rubio invited about 20 of the governors top bundlers for a private meeting at the offices of Weil Gotshal & Manges, a white shoe law firm in New York City. Rubio has received the backing of a number of Walker donors, including Jonathan Burkan, Eric Anton and Julian Gingold.

Rubio has also sought the support of the Ricketts family, which own the Chicago Cubs and gave more than $5 million to a super PAC supporting Walker before he dropped out of the race.

Walker is scheduled to appear at an education event in Wisconsin with Jeb Bush on Monday, and he is planning to attend Tuesdays GOP debate.

Spokespersons for Walker and Rubio declined multiple requests for comment.

Wonder if Walker still has a man crush on Rubio?

Birds of a feather

We'll see, finally. Walker seemed to be not ready for prime time and let very bad advisors define him. If he's a constitutional conservative, he'll support someone who doesn't have the blessing of the puppetmasters. If he supports an establishment fave, he'll never be able to walk it back.

Pretty much proves that us CONSERVATIVES WERE RIGHT and that Walker was an Open Borders / Amnesty proponent.

It was quite OBVIOUS when he kept tripping over himself in trying to walk that back.

Not me, not if he is considering supporting either Bush or Rubio. That is why Walker had to drop out. He lost a lot of support when he defended the indefensible John McCain and people began to realize that Walker wasn’t who we thought that he was and was perhaps playing the roll of a stalking horse for the Insiders, trying to draw the votes of Conservatives.

What amazes me is that so many people are still supporting these pro amnesty candidates like Rubio and Carson. Now we can add supporting TPP to both of them. Rubio is a fast talking used car salesman always with his next mark in the crosshairs. I can’t explain Carson’s support at all unless he hypnotizes susceptible people.

“What amazes me is that so many people are still supporting these pro amnesty candidates like Rubio and Carson.”

For me, it sucks, but Carson’s support is ONLY because he’s black - he is a horrendous candidate otherwise, even when compared to our Third-Stringers at the kiddie table. The left’s guilt-trip indoctrination seems to have worked on HUGE NUMBERS of Republicans, even if those same people claim to ‘hate’ the media...they may ‘hate’ the media, but the media they claim to ‘hate’ still controls them.

For Rubio, he just seems to be an OUTSTANDING SALESMAN, the kind of guy that can convince you the car he’s trying to sell you can win at Indy, even though the engine is totally seized up. And it seems to work, sadly. Rush STILL cannot seem to understand what Rubio nearly pulled off in 2013...something that Rush spent MONTHS fighting. It’s like it never happened, but instead, now, all that Rush sees is Rubio’s dad dodging bullets fleeing from Cuba (and ignoring that the story is totally fabricated).

It’s tough, but we need to hang in there and FIGHT this.
