What becomes of the broken hearted.....

They do as I do.

They try to fill the hole with a newer, inferior, pistol.

It never quite works out, though.

Well the 106CR was finicky, but the 107CR...yeah I deserve a few good licks for getting rid of her :)

The selector stop plate and mag catch were weak points on that model, but a good gunsmith could do some dremel/machining work and fix both. Or simply replacing them with a well-used AK-74 selector stop plate and trigger guard often did it.

My favorite pistol is my Remington XP100 221 Fireball. Technically a pistol, but certainly not small.

It has a Burris 3X long eye relief scope and is a tack driver at 200 meters+.

Bought it in 1976. First one I ever saw for sale, 2nd I had ever seen.

Really love it. Never expect to sell it. Have lots of brass and have been reloading for it since I first bought it.

Come to think about it, I’ve never sold a gun I bought or was given to me.

I’m pretty sure Laz is referring to my Smith Wesson M&P Shield 9mm. It’s my current carry and it’s perfect for the job. It’s very popular lately. Most folks that I know carry have been big on the Shield or Glock 43 recently. Both are perfect CCW choices.

...while I have never (okay, SELDOM) cuddled with a gun...

A fine weapon can give you a lot of love.

I spent a good $500 trying to get her to work right. In the end, the cost of 5.56 alone made me sell.
I had a good 4,000 rounds thru her by the time I was done. The firing pin/trigger on those 5.56 Arsenal’s weren’t done right to begin with.

I’m still not really convinced I want to get a license, although it would be nice when I travel to the East Coast to see my daughter. Unfortunately she lives in VA, and they recently eliminated the reciprocity with other states. ComDem Governor is a real jerk.

Here in TX, If I want to carry a pistol in the glove box in my car, it’s OK.

When I was growing up, every pickup had a gun rack. Normally with a rifle and shotgun. Nobody thought a thing about it. Nobody stole them, everybody had them. Everybody hunted.

Now, you never see the racks. But the rifles are still often in the pickups. Not always visible.

Mine has the shorter barrel and the Burris optics.

But same beast. That barrel looks like the 17 Remington. Mine is the original 221.

The only firearm that left my possession after purchase was a Dan Wesson .357 Magnum that SAPD confiscated on a bogus traffic stop. It was what the lawyer wanted for payment for representing me in court for illegally carrying in Texas. I was transporting said handgun home after loaning it to my brother. This was 1976 though.
