It is breezy, sunny and 54, so several other hikers were on the trail this AM, but by 11 I had a favorite spot all to myself to stop and eat lunch...
Fareeeezing here. I do not like winter weather. I don’t like scraping the windshield to go anywhere, I don’t like having to change outdoor animal water 3 times a day, I don’t like jogging when there is a chance of ice and the cold wind makes my eyes water and chaps my skin, I don’t like hauling the dogcrate of young chickens into the garage each night and out to the coop each morning, I don’t like the high heating bills, I don’t like the lower number of mpg my car gets, I don’t like anything about it except the reduction of insects. My sister says she likes cold weather but that’s a lie. She is never in it for any longer than it takes to go from house to car.
It is not as cold here as it is where you are-it is 45 and sunny now-it was 28 at 7 this morning-I don’t like frigid weather, either-the kind that involves scraping ice, ice/snow on the deck, covering the face to prevent chapping-and certainly not ice on the riverbank and hiking trail, so that I turn and go back to the house instead of hiking in the woods.
I really think when people say they like the cold, they mean that they like the weather in late Fall-not the dead of Winter-people from Alaska might like the dead of Winter here, because it is balmy compared to what it is like where they come from...
