Vanity: The Trump Problem?
Self | 1/11 | Me

Posted on 01/11/2016 11:57:21 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

I consider myself to work with plenty of smart people. Some staunch conservatives, others moderate. But being that this is a financial business, most are not liberal.

So the following came up at lunch today with a person recently away from news on vacation.

Person: Anything exciting happen with Trump? Me: Not really Person: I can't believe he's still around Me: Why? Person: He's so obnoxious. You wouldn't vote for him would you? Me: Of course. 7 days a week if he's against Hillary. Person: If it's the two of them, I'm not voting.

What do you think? Isn't this a real problem? A lower turnout can only help the Beast.

Perfection is not an option.

As if ANYONE ANYWHERE said it was!

When someone refuses to compromise their principles and vote for a candidate, a certain segment of that candidate's supporters will wail, "You want perfection -- you're a purist!"

When in truth, NOBODY here is seeking or expecting perfection. A LOT of people here however seek to insult those who refuse to vote for leftist Republicans.

Vanity is the Trump problem. A lot of people think he’s ego is just too big, or he doesn’t have any manners. Others think he’s not serious or that he’s too unpredictable.

Ted pissed me off on a couple things to be sure. But I still have him over the 80% threshold. Don on the other hand, IMO is somewhere below that. And his sorry conservatives bit really did not give me hope.

That said, he is far and away better than Sanders or Clinton. He is also far and away better than anyone on the ballot not named Ted Cruz. Which is an indictment of how liberal their records show they are. Most of them are as bad as Clinton and would act just like her given the power to because they have proven exactly that. Rubio comes to mind as does Linseed.

I’m very optomistic about America. I am SURE people will continue electing lesser evils to congress and TC or DT will be paralyzed by them to the best of their ability when they side with Democrats at all opportunities. My optimism is that we will slit our own throats.

As usual. No matter what.

You’ve proven what you are; thank you very much. I, at least, had the class to respond privately. You on the other hand?

Romney threw his election just like McCain. There is a reason they wanted Obama there and you are seeing it before your eyes. They needed two Rinos, McCain and Romney to cover.

I don’t think you understand DT, Finny. He has a legitimate special skill only a few people possess and he knows how to use it effectively. Whether it be Trump or Cruz, hopefully they will keep their promises. I think they will. We need to keep vigilant and rid ourselves of the traitors in politics.

I’m with you Red.

If Romney won, we would not have scores of communists in the white house at least.

Nor Muslim Brotherhood in the White House, the Pentagon, the FBI, the State Department and Homeland Security. Think about that.

If you can’t see a difference between Trump & Hillary go ahead and take your guns to your local police department and give them up

Trump said, I play to people’s fantasies.

you wanna believe the fantasy that Trump will do what you think he will do go ahead. I take the man at his word which is he’s lie to you to get elected.

trump+hitlery= the same

ETRed FReepemails me instead, saying: You are an ass! Case closed.

That was wrong of ETR; should have said it right here on the Forum. So I'll do it: You're an ass.

Go eat some hay and stop flinging poo. You obviously love the sound of your own voice, but you won't convince anyone with your name-calling and unhinged vitriol. We're not taking that PC crap any more. Go find yourself a nice hippie commune with pretensions to holiness and keep your big flapping mouth shut around the grownups.

If we continue to allow the elites to choose and control our candidates; we will never win. It is time to make them accountable.

ETR:

Politics is the art of persuasion. I did not vote for Romney or Obozo last time but for Tom Hoefling, FR's own Eternal Vigilance. Romney is just as evil as Obozo. I will not have to apologize to God for voting for Tom Hoefling.

That said, I am not crazy about Trump but, if he becomes the GOP nominee, I presently intend to vote for him. None of us who refused to vote for Romney are likely to be persuaded by insults and fantasies from those who did. If and when I vote for Trump (I would prefer Ted Cruz by far), it will be because, in my own judgment, he is nowhere near as much a threat to our nation, our civilization, our babies, our marriages, our guns, our military, our constitution and a LOT of other important things as were BOTH Romney and Obozo and as is the Arkansas Medusa.

The GOP-Elite gave us Romney as a nominee and therefore inevitably gave us a second term of Obozo. The day Romney secured the nomination the 2012 farce of an election was guaranteed to elect Obozo.

Kwitcherbellyachin about the past and seek to PERSUADE those more conservative than you to vote for Trump IF he is the nominee. I did not owe my vote to Romney or anyone else. My vote is my choice. You can only vote FOR a candidate and the ballot does not allow you to vote against one.

I absolutely refuse to STFU. I refused to vote for 2012’s twin evils: Obozo and Romney. I am prepared to vote for Trump if he is the nominee although I far prefer Ted Cruz. If Romney had been elected he would have been every bit as evil as Obozo unless you are of the mega investor class or concerned for Muffy’s trust fund. You nominate disaster as a Republican and you will get disaster. At least four million conservatives refused to vote for the moral monster Romney. Nominate another like Romney (if there is such a thing) and that number climbs a lot higher with each passing election. Don’t want to hear the truth? Go to DU or HuffPo.

I would be interested in the opinions of Willard Mitt Romney (Obozo in “Republican” drag) because why????????

I read your #48 and responded to it by referring you to #111. Note that I plan on voting for either Cruz or Trump as the nominee barring unforeseen circumstances. I would have great enthusiasm for Cruz. If anything vaguely resembling that despicable POS Romney is nominated, I vote third party. I voted for useless RINOs in 1968, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2012 and maybe in 2000 and 2004. I ain't doing that EVER again.

Nominate someone WORTH voting for or I won't support the GOP candidate no matter WHO the Demonrats nominate. I would also vote for Rubio though that will not be respected by many here or for Scott Walker in a heartbeat. Carson: probable. Santorum: yes but he is going nowhere this time. Rand Paul or Huckabee: very unlikely. Never: Christie, Jeb Bush, Grahamnesty, Gilmore, Pataki; Fiorina; I am probably forgetting someone that probably does not matter.

I also won't vote for baby-killer Mark Nancyboy Kirk for another term in the Senate and did not vote for him last time and I will not vote for the wholly owned GOP-E pig serving IL-16 in Congress: Adam Kinzinger. Never have and never will. My State Senator is a Cruz state co-chair and he will get my vote from now on.

Many years ago, Morton Blackwell, long-time Virginia GOP National Committeemen, was my political mentor. Yesterday, he urged conservatives (and he has trained tens of thousands of us over about fifty years) to unite behind Cruz. The article was on Breitbart. He announced this through former Virginia AG Ken Cuccinelli whom I also respect.

Mittens can tell you what happens when Republican voters stay home. A low turnout doesn’t always favor Democrats.

Too bad we all have to get dragged down the tubes right along with rigid intellectual towers like you who will stay home and not vote....that's precisely how we got four more years of Obama's presidency-from-hell in the last presidential election.

Yet here you are, advocating the exact same thing all over again.

You can't be a "purist" behind the counter - unless you don't care if there's a counter there next year, and you find that your business has been absorbed by that nation-wide chain - "Space Available".

Bullsh*t.
