The 2016 Girl Scout issues facing pro-lifers are threefold:

The national organization—GSUSA—maintains memberships, alongside abortion providers, in pro-abortion organizations; and confirms that its local councils and troops may collaborate with Planned Parenthood. Additionally, GSUSA honors Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Barbara Lee, all ardent advocates of abortion who even support partial birth abortion.

The international organization—World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS)—which is funded by GSUSA, demands “non-judgmental sexual and reproductive-health information and services to all,” in its campaign The World We Want For Girls 2015.

At the local level, every Girl Scout council promotes pro-abortion organizations and women to girls in your community via the official Girl Scout curriculum.

Our girls deserve better. And that’s why we’re choosing not to fund the Girl Scout organization through 2016 cookie sales. Learn more about current concerns and how you can help educate others.

This is the only thing I could find so far on Cookiecott. The Girl Scouts will be taking orders soon and I wanted to remind all FReepers that the Girl Scouts are in bed with Planned Parenthood and have been for some time.

Yes I loved those thin mint but good news! Those same cookies can be bought year round at Dollar General under the name "Clover Valley" at a much cheaper price! So don't give money to baby killers who sell baby body parts.

Thanks for the reminder. I have weaned myself off the thin mints and the Tagalongs and Delites.

But it wasn’t easy.

The international organization—World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS)—which is funded by GSUSA

Stop right there. This is blatant falsehood. There are 144 member nations in WAGGGS and USA is one of them, but we do not "fund" the worldwide scouting movement. Who wrote this hit piece? Yeah, the Europeans who dominate the world scouting movement (which is where it began) are pretty liberal and they love the UN and its agenda. But world scouting is a pretty rare experience for any girl in the US. I did take a troop over there to an international jamboree 2 years ago but not many get that experience.

If you pay your federal and state taxes you are funding the baby killers far more than a 9 yr old girl selling GS cookies of which the money goes to the baker (who also bakes your Dollar Store knock off cookies), her Council which is locally run, and her troop which is probably run by a volunteer Mom in her school.

Cookie money does not go to GSUSA in NYC. National organization makes their money by the trademark purchased by the cookie baker (who makes your knock off cookies); a whole bunch of other GSUSA trademarked products emerging (coffee flavoring, ice cream, candy bars etc, a lot by Nestle); and by grants and donations - some from the sources you cite- welcome to the nonprofit world.

“I was told”

3 words that usually indicate a lack of informed and accurate information

If you were a GS leader you know where the cookie money went

Dollar general sells non girl scout cookies that are the same. I am no connoisseur but I cannot taste a difference.

I can tell you where most of the money did NOT go and that is to the troop! I think we got what, about 50 cents from every box and back then it was about $3.50 a box! The rest I was told went to the higher ups. You know I look back now and I really wish I had investigated it more! I mean “followed the money” as they say. Those girls needed more money in the troop and not going to Planned parenthood that is for damn sure!

Oh and by the way everyone, GSA is raising the rates of the cookies this year!!

Per the Girl Scouts of the USA web site

http://www.girlscouts.org/en/faq/faq/social-issues.html

Every Girl Scout and Girl Guide organization is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts—and each Member Organization, including Girl Scouts of the USA, pays dues. WAGGGS operates in much the same way as the United Nations: Each Member Organization pays dues based on the size of its membership and the per capita income of the country in which the organization resides.

I wonder which country provides most of the funding?

You’ve been on this forum defending this abomination for years. You must be ok with the Girl Scouts’ pro-lezbo, pro-abortion sexualization of young girls, huh?

My kid will NEVER EVER take part in this left wing piece of crap organization. I don’t care what you want to claim each local troop does. No way I’ll support this.

I switched my daughter to American Heritage Girls this year and it is fun. They seem to be more outdoors-oriented than the GS are these days, and that was always what made scouting fun to begin with, imo. In GS it was just one conservation/recycling project after another. Boring!

We had a rendezvous with the local Trail Life boys’ troops in the fall and it was a blast. She got to try out archery and loved it, so we got her a bow and arrows for Christmas.

Well there are 10 million members and 2.5 million of them are American

So do the math

Membership is $15 a year and that is dues to both GSUSA and WAGGGS

The GSUSA web site has the facts and it is part of the cookie training given to every leader

Of a $4 box of cookies the troops get $.50 up to about $.80 a box depending on incentives. Higher sellers get more profit. Troops that register early in the year get an extra $.05 per box. Troops that opt out of “ prizes” get more money

Next, about $2.50 per box goes to the baker

The remainder goes to Councils, though sometimes they share a few cents a box with ServiceUnit which are the troop communities ( volunteers)

The Council’s have to pay staff, run an office, run training and other programs, pay insurance, and maintain the camps in their Council- we have 4 camps for 25,000 girls

So there Ya Go. GS cookies keep the membership going because it is the only funds the little ones earn to pay for their meetings, uniforms, books, badges, and camping trips ... I think national keeps their fingers out of it so they don’t have to really support the girls except from a distance with keeping up the brand, selling uniforms books and merchandise and chasing donors

Still and all a lot of leaders carry our troops out of our own pockets

I don’t claim anything I don’t personally do and I have been a GS fir over 50 years and a leader for the past 9 years

They have this motto “ GS is for every girl” but it’s not for families with your emotional attitude so you can be sure your kid is safe from being influenced by women like me

My dd is graduating this year and she has a wonderful resume with all of her community service time, plus she us quite assured at speaking in front of and managing group activities, working with children and adults, and very poised and proud of the compliments she gets at every GS event we run- not to mention the experiences she’s had while camping and traveling, as far as the UK where she met Scouts from all over the world

Her GS Silver Award just might put her ahead of your kid in line for a job or a scholarship!

My daughter can get plenty of service time and life experiences without partaking in & supporting a left-wing organization.

My emotional attitude is one that does not condone evil. When I look at the Girl Scouts’ agenda, I see evil.

Since liberals took over the Girl Scouts, it has become a branch of the radical end of the DNC. Sad. We’ll be reading, in the future, about a lot of girls who were sexually manipulated and molested in the scouts.
