Juan Williams: GOP to blame for civility's breakdown
The Hill ^ | 19 Jan, 2016 | Juan Williams

If you ask me, President Obama is being way too hard on himself.

"It's one of the few regrets of my presidency, that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better," the president said during his final State of the Union address last week. He added,

'a president with the gifts of Lincoln or Roosevelt might have better bridged the divide."

While I'm all for humility, the president is not to blame for the rancor and polarization that have characterized his presidency.

This is the guy whose son, Raffi, gets attacked by Liberals in the ugliest of terms because he’s a visible Republican. And yet its the Republicans who created the civility issue. Juan should know better.

Somewhat germane to this -- I recently watched "Billy Jack" on DVD, which presents a biased slant on the hippy culture when it was still forming. Made in 1971, it has one notable scene where the students of the 'progressive' school (yes, the term goes back that far) are in a town council meeting.

The confrontations are predictable, but the utter disdain, lack of respect, and overall rude, crude and 'holier than thou' attitudes amongst the libs is on stark display. A young girl says at one point, "This sucks" and everyone is applauding like it's some sort of statement of genius.

Bear in mind this is over forty years ago. Nothing has changed.

Liberals still blame others for their actions.

"Billy Jack." One of the most laughably biased pieces of cinema propaganda ever filmed. And typically hypocritical too. Billy Jack was the hero who kicked the snot out of half the townspeople in the name of peace.

Remember the scene in the ice cream parlor, when the (inevitably typecast) rednecks dump a sack of flour over the doe-eyed, helpless little Indian girl (who looked about as Indian as Pamela Anderson)? I believe there was a line later in the movie that described her as (and I'm not kidding!) "God's little gift of sunshine."

Tom Laughlin was an idiot.

Obama doesn’t even have a passing acquaintance with humility. It is always false humility when Obama speaks. But when you have 98% of the Media reporting everything you say as truth, you will tend to believe you are always correct. Narcissists are in a ‘class’ by themselves. Now Juan was burned by NPR for not being ‘all Left, all the time’ on their channel. He has gone wacko Left since being given a hefty raise by FoxNews. I guess he just doesn’t hear all the insults, all the goading that Obama does.......as Juan, like all the rest of Big Media, believes whatever Obama says is automatically the truth.

Really? Who called for the beer summit? Who said "If I had a boy he would be just like Trayvon?" Who supported BLM after 2 separate incidences involving criminals getting shot were blamed on the police? We could also mention who supported the destruction of OWS while condemning conservative marchers?

Shut up! Mr. Williams isn't prepared to deal with any argument!

Illinois Republican becomes first in party to back LGBT rights bill

By Ben Kamisar

Rep. Bob Dold has become the the first Republican lawmaker to cross party lines and back equal rights legislation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Dold (R-Ill.), who is facing a tough reelection race in a swing district this year, announced he is backing the Equality Act in a statement shared first with The Hill.

“Illinois has a long and proud history of fighting for equal rights, and I am proud to continue this tradition by supporting the Equality Act. Engraved on the front of the Supreme Court is the phrase ‘equal justice under the law,’ but as long as any Americans can be legally discriminated against, there is not equal justice in this country,” Dold said.

“Congress must act to ensure that all Americans, including the LGBT community, are protected equally from discrimination under federal law, just as they already are in my home state of Illinois.”
Dold added that while the bill is “not perfect in its current form, it marks an important first step in the process of crafting a bipartisan bill that ensures equal rights for all Americans while also fully protecting the religious freedoms our Constitution guarantees.”

The Illinois Republican’s endorsement of the legislation comes as he seeks to hold onto his seat in one of the few swing districts left in the country. He first won election in 2010, only to be unseated by Brad Schneider (D). Schneider served in Congress for two years before losing to Dold in 2014 but is mounting a comeback bid.

If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun, Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. Ive seen Eagles fans.

I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.

"Tom Laughlin was an idiot."

I did get the impression he buys his Kool-Aid by the keg.

Gotta give him credit, though, he sure managed to wrangle a healthy capitalist career out of it! $;-)

The three phases of liberal argument.
1) Amazement that you actually have a different opinion
2) Anger that you refuse to blindly accept their argument
3) Personal attack and threats because you are obviously insane and a bad person.

when a mosque is vandalized...

A true leader would have stated... when a place of worship is vandalized.

He (Obummer) squandered an opportunity that can never occur again. (First Negro US President). An opportunity to unite and bring us all Americans together. For once I agree with Obama, he really blew it.

the president is not to blame for the rancor and polarization that have characterized his presidency.

Since libtards are collectivists, and disruption of the social order is their main goal, the promotion and exploitation of divisiveness and hatred is one of the main strategies of libtardism.
