Wonder how many of the SA-7s Clinton/Obama ran to Syria out of Libya are still waiting to be used by ISIS?

These dirty little proxy wars are always a good place to test and demonstrate your toys.

Putin testing more new toys in Syria.

I would say you are correct, Russia's expansion of their policy in the ME to reactive use of military force is significantly costly and has probably added the opportunity to field test their new gear, testing that certainly would be required soon.

SA-7 would be ineffective against this helo.

Haven’t been hearing so much out of the Syrian theater for some time. Wonder why that is.

Obama or Hillary does not need a diversion yet. Just as soon as one or the other of them needs a distraction, you will see and hear plenty on Syria. It will be the only thing on for 24/7.

Russia is not wealthy to begin with. Let them spend their milk money on Putin’s whims.

Look at the engine exhaust. It’s positioned over the wing, may hide the IR signature. Also some diffuser device that redirects the exhaust gasses, reducing the IR signature.

Two things, the SA-7 is only good for a target that either doesn’t have counter-measures, or doesn’t use them. This helo has them and the deployment is likely automatic. Also it spends its time low level. SA-7 is super elevated before launch, its seeker sucks and unlikely to pick the helo out amongst the low level IR sources. The SA-7 like most manpads has a significant signature when fired and this has enough ordnance to make the launch the last one for the launchee.

It's kind of hard to see with all that ordnance in the way.

That's the wingman's job. Of course there's nothing says the original target can't make a followup gun pass just as an object lesson.
