If Trump really got it on illegal immigration he wouldn’t be for touchback amnesty.

Nice try, a**hole, but we can all see your posting history over the past few days, and we can all see that you have been going around insulting everyone you disagree with. You are not responding to anyone’s actual substantive points - instead, you are calling people losers, telling people they deserve to rot in hell, etc.

I’m short, you’re being a jerk. So knock it off.

I think the current fights on FR are because we have lost sight of the big picture. This is my attempt to bring that back into focus from the point of view of a Trump supporter.

I have been a Cruz supporter/donor from day 1 and refuse to trash either (I actually have defended both for some time as the two sides square off with their childish and stupid rhetoric.

I think it's even worse than what you say - I think many are incapable of seeing the big picture and insist on everything or nothing - all without actually taking time to discern the severity of the damage already done by allowing an Obama two terms or the damage to be done if we allow a Hillary or a Bernie in.

They are incapable of understanding that which confounds them - the world is a myriad set of grays and God and Satan are the only absolutes as far as Black and White (or White and Black for those that get confused).

They become deluded by their "principles" (no different than the holier-than-thous who think they are pure as snow while they condemn the "real sinners") and convince themselves that a person who isn't torn apart by homosexual "marriage" is the same as one who will pass EOs and Laws to try to make homosexuals a "preferred class". Or by someone who isn't thrilled with abortion but doesn't think the Feds should be able to wave a magic wand to push it and someone who is rabidly for abortion and who would criminalize those who speak out against it.

There is no level of discernment because the unattainable perfection is the only solution they accept.

Pogo was right and Alice visited a saner place than we live in - our side has a "Death of Freedom" pact with itself because it likes to whine about the raw deals it gets without actually investing in sweetening the deal they get.

If Cruz comes out on top, I'll vote for him. If it's Trump, I'll vote for him. I won't trash either and those that do, willingly try to put all their eggs in one basket (usually being paid for by someone else), then strapping it to the back end of a motocross bike....

As they would be so happy to say, while not catching the irony, "You can't fix stupid"....

There's another angle about Trump that people haven't considered.

How many Republicans have run for office and have gotten slimed (as usual) by the media and who faded into the sunset? They get a job at some lobbying firm or think tank and have a nice comfortable career in relative anonymity.

We haven't heard from Dan Quayle in 25 years.

Trump doesn't have that option. He has a huge business empire and thousands of employees.

He's risking everything by running for office as a Republican. He can't simply fade into obscurity after being slimed by the media.

He's a very public figure that "came out" as a Republican. He has a LOT to lose.

Millions of dollars in business. Thousands of employees. His reputation. He is putting everything on the line. There are real stakes involved with Trump running as a Republican.

The other Republican candidate don't have nearly as much to lose.

I’m sorry, I haven’t seen that poll. Could you post a link?

Serously? Do you have any idea what would happen if we defaulted on our debt? We are not one company among millions, we are the largest economy in the world.
