A Secret About The 1st Legal Slave Owner in America…

A Secret About The 1st Legal Slave Owner in America, but the Media Does not Want To Report This

Most liberals just cannot stand the sight or sound of truth. Facts go over their heads as they look for opportunities to call others “intolerant” of their worldviews, resort to logic that they don’t recognize as faulty, and stoop to ad hominem commentary because they have no foundation on which to stand.

Now, just imagine if I told them that slavery in American was started by a black man — yikes.

The black male I am referring to is Anthony Johnson, who died in 1670. He was an Angolan slave who was freed in the Colony of Virginia in 1635.

Johnson had been taken prisoner in the Portuguese colony of Angola by members of an enemy tribe and sold to Arab slave traders. He was eventually sold as an indentured servant to a merchant working for the Virginia Company.

By 1651, Johnson owned 250 acres and had five indentured servants — four white men and one black man. In March, John Casor, the black indentured servant, demanded that Johnson set him free upon the end of his seven years of indenture.

Johnson stubbornly retorted that Casor was his servant for life and that he knew of no such indentured servitude.

But Johnson wasn’t pleased with having been forced into letting Casor off the hook, so a lawsuit was filed. The case, Johnson v. Parker, was a pivotal precedent that set into motion the enslavement of blacks in America.

Here is the final ruling, provided by the court of Northampton County:

“This daye Anthony Johnson negro made his complaint to the court against mr. Robert Parker and declared that hee deteyneth his servant John Casor negro under the pretence that said negro was a free man. The court seriously consideringe and maturely weighing the premisses, doe fynde that the saide Mr. Robert Parker most unjustly keepeth the said Negro from Anthony Johnson his master … It is therefore the Judgement of the Court and ordered That the said John Casor Negro forthwith returne unto the service of the said master Anthony Johnson, And that Mr. Robert Parker make payment of all charges in the suit.”

This is horribly written so I will make it simple.

It was a black American, a former slave himself, who won the right to introduce chattel slavery in the US.

Irony of history that is not well known.

Every few years someone (often, but not always, a Palestinian sympathizer) will write an article claiming that a lot of Jews supported the Nazis. Or were Nazis. Or bankrolled the Nazis. Or something. The story often changes - and is always nonsense - but the point is the same: the writer is trying somehow to blame the Jews for the genocide perpetrated against them.

This, to me, seems kind of like the same thing. Did some free blacks own slaves? Sure. Does that shift the burden of responsibility away from the slavers, and the great plantation owners, all of whom were white? Of course not.

I have known this little factoid for a long time...

Whenever I get into a discussion with a brain dead libtard about my white guilt and why we owe reparations for slavery, I bring this up...

They never believe it...

After all they are brain dead...

I believe that the relevance of this story is not that he was a free black who owned slaves but that he was reportedly the first person in America to establish a legal right to own another person as a chattel slave.

Previously, indentured servitude was a contractual relationship. You agree to pay for me to come to America and I will agree to work for you for an extended period of years, but you would not own me even during the period of servitude and certainly not after.

Courts recognizing a right of ownership of slaves was necessary for the existence of slavery.

I think you miss an important point. The story illustrates that slavery is not a White invention; it is a human invention. Good and evil are distributed amongst all the races. Attempts to make out that that whites are intrinsically bad are political rather than historically factual.

Just so. My first ancestor in the new world was an indentured servant (wheelwright/carpenter)in New Amsterdam. He had to work for his patron until he had made a specified number of "wagons". Then he was free.

“Arab MUSLIM slave traders ... who are still operating to this day.”

While blacks in US prisons sign up to be mud-slimes in droves.

Google is your friend. Your "factoid" is FALSE. You would do yourself a sevice by reading up on actual history, and noting that your basic tenant is based upon fantasy, and not historical, documented fact - substanciatied with court cases, biographies, newpaper reports and other documentation.

It’s not a *secret*.

I’m so sick of headlines that try to drag people in with the idea that they have some new *secret* revelation and nobody else knows.

It may not be a "secret", but it's not something that is likely to make it into the "Common Core", or be talked about much.

Ask your Facebook friends, how many knew that the first actual slave owner in Virginia was Black?

There were quite a few black slave owners before the War of Northern Aggression.
