I’ll be so glad when the nomination process is over. I’ll either know that I can whole-heartedly support a republican candidate, or I’ll know that throwing away my vote to the libertarian ticket is the only option for not voting for a democrat. If the choice is between a socialist democrat and a crony capitalist democrat, then I might as well vote for the libertarian as the most conservative choice available.
It was 42 and overcast when I went to hike-but as I was finishing an estimate for one of the guys, it started raining, and has been doing off and on since-so any hope of making a dollar today is rained out for us...

It was 45 this morning. It’s still warm. A nice day for melting.
A neighbor who has only lived in Texas for 4 years-she’s originally from S Dakota-was on the trail this morning when I was, and said she wanted to show me something-we walked up the trail below the cliff to a property where a barn is being re-roofed by three guys who were speaking Spanish.
She asked me to listen to them, to see if they said anything about being illegals-so if they were, we could call la migra and get them hauled away.
We sat down under some trees and listened-they were making no effort to be quiet-illegals would be quiet, so as not to attract attention in an area known for people who love to get them busted-talking about ordinary stuff, laughing and joking-one of them apparently a reservist, talking about a recent deployment to Afghanistan, and they all had the Norteno accent common to those of us from South Texas to northern Mexico, not the fast talking or dragging out some vowels, like people from places further into Mexico do.
I said maybe I’m wrong, but those guys sound like green cards, or maybe even S Texans to me-they just don’t act or sound like illegals-so we went on with our hike-I hope I was right...
I’m glad you are thawing out-it is 54 here, but the rain makes it seem colder than it was this morning...
We got no snow with that storm. Today was a sweater day, no jacket. I am loving it.
