Ted Cruz is proof that evangelicals will swarm to the candidate that says moderately correct religious stuff and completely ignore the various ways in which the candidate will either expand the state or otherwise keep the status quo. Rhetoric is more important to the conservative Christian base than anything, and said rhetoric is the very thing that blinds them to the statist trends of the GOP.

Who do you support at this point?

Trump. My second choice was Santorum, but I realize it wasn't realistic. I won't vote if the nomination is stolen for Jeb or Kasich.

“Like Huckabee and Santorum, targeting the evangelicals gets you Iowa, and not much else”

This is true. And the big concern is yet to come. Forget Cruz he is going to fade fast after SC.

In case you have not noticed the GOPe is starting to coalesce around Marco Rubio. It started yesterday with Rush pimping him and then Sean right after. Also Sean had Marco on his TV show last night. Fox News started pimping him Monday evening after the 3rd place win.

The establishment never disappoints. Every four years they Mitt Romney the GOP base. You are now going to see that start to happen. They have immense amounts of money and influence as well as media outlest like Fox and all the establishment blogs like National Review etc.

The establishment will throw everything they have behind Marco Rubio in the near future in an effort to kill the only real threat to their ongoing uniparty, Donald Trump.

So start looking into your heart if you are a Cruz supporter and when it comes time don’t be a sucker and jump to Rubio. We cannot allow ourselves to be Mitt Romnied again.

Santorum threw in with Rubio. Does that not matter?

Yeah. It tells me that Santorum, who knows both US Senators in the race from being on the campaign trail with them, has just given a "please not Cruz" endorsement.

Santorum is a class act. He and Huck demonstrated that when they stood by Trump in the endeavor that raised over $6 million for Veterans.

No way; never; no matter who he is running against. We have already suffered through one not-eligible, foreign citizen, homo prostitute, anti-American, racist, usurper president. NEVER AGAIN. All that is the same with Marco Rubio. All that.

Much worse than Romney.

Yet you go for Trump who is less than classy, rather than Rubio. You are right, we don’t have similar core values or at least we process information differently. I will vote for Trump if he is the nominee, Rubio as well. Will you vote for Cruz or Rubio?

We're actually processing information closely to the same. I put Trump first, Santorum is out, puts Rubio as the one I'd consider.

I'm really turned off by the "same old, same old" maneuvers of Cruz's campaign.
