Great band, though I sometimes did confuse them with Blood, Sweat and Tears.
To: Larry Lucido
Actually for the best couple of tours EWF toured with Chicago.

A lot of great rockers are in their 70s. The ones that made it that far, anyway.
To: Larry Lucido
Yep, that’s why we are starting to see the big “die off”.

the SpinnersI liked them, too. And the Chi-Lites, and the Delfonics.......

Well, together they sounded great. Somehow I did not know “Phenix” was the name for “the EWF horns”. Or it didn’t come up in my internal search engine.
Speaking of horns, I lost a pretty good pal, Mic Gillette (trpt) from the original Tower of Power a week or so ago.

I liked them, too. And the Chi-Lites, and the Delfonics....... And the Ohio Players. Especially the album covers.

We’ve got a great venue here in the bay area, in Saratoga, where most of these old bands show up every spring through october. I gotta make an effort to see more of their shows.

Yea i saw them two last year.
Chicago is basically a different band now, i think only the trumpet player remains.
Felt like watching a cover band.

And Chuck Berry still hanging in there.

Read his incredible autobiography on Wikipedia to see the overall influence he has been.
To me, growing up in Chicago and following his music, one connection stands supreme:
his collaboration with Charles Stepney, and their production of Minnie Ripperton's first
album, that someday will receive the accolades that it deserves. I propose for your
utter enjoyment:
