Christie hints he may go after Trump soon

Gov. Chris Christie on Sunday said the reason he hasn't attacked Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is that "there's been a march" for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.

But he hinted that strikes on the real estate tycoon may be coming soon.

Since declaring his own presidential bid in late June 2015, the famously feisty and plain-spoken New Jersey governor has avoided speaking ill of Trump, first ignoring him and later excusing his more outrageous comments as the talk of someone without experience.

However, appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper on Sunday monrning, Christie said that "there could be a time when I go after Mr. Trump as well," but that "those are decisions for me to make. As I said to someone recently, 'I engage at a time of my choosing.' I chose last night to engage with Senator Rubio because the stakes are so high here in New Hampshire."

The latest UMass/7News poll of New Hampshire voters has Christie lagging Rubio by 10 points. Rubio is in second place, behind front-runner Donald Trump.

"We cannot nominate what the Democrats did eight years ago," Christie insisted. "A first-term senator, unprepared for the world, unprepared for the race."

The New Hampshire primary is Tuesday.

Christie hints he may go after Trump soon

He may.

If he does, look for DT to puncture CC's outer layer of fat and then we'll see who is bloated with hot air, eh?

Christie is pretty effective with his attacks. I actually like the guy. I don’t see him as President, but he should have a leadership role nationally, maybe Attorney General.

Christie can’t do Trump any harm, hardly anyone even knows Christie is in the race. (However, if Christie were to roll over Trump....he’d flatten him into a pancake)

Christie shouldn’t go after Trump, he’ll need a President on his side in the coming yeas.

He may be dropping a hint to Donald Trump that he can either be an asset or an enemy. Perhaps he is looking at his future as a running mate.

Chris Christie. Another one state candidate. If he were a contender he’d be any easy target.

That would not be smart. Trump just might pull out the photo of Christie in that baseball outfit.

A big fat heart-attack-prone asset. An enemy? CC has the most to lose.

Christie for all his negatives is the only traditional candidate that remotely has any personality or the “X Factor”... He and Trump are the only 2.. the rest of the field don’t have it at all...

I’ve pegged Christie as a possible dark horse for the candidacy because of this fact for a while now. I don’t see anyone else remotely having any shot of taking on Trump because Trump has the X Factor in spades, so anyone without it trying to take him on will fail miserably.

This could get interesting. I still don’t know if Christie can overcome his negatives, but if there is any candidate in this field that can stand toe to toe with Trump and not be completely overwhelmed it would be Christie.

Time will tell...
