I’ve been paying into SS for 50 years; I was never given a choice as to whether or not I wanted to participate in the scheme. The government just stepped in and took money from me, every payday; but with the promise that I would get it back when I retire. That promise was a contract. I expect the government to live up to its obligations under that contract. Hell, I’d be happy if I just got back what was paid into SS by me and on my behalf. Call it even, and I go on my way. But, noooooo, there are people out there that think I am not entitled to MY OWN F***ING MONEY!

-— It has to go broke, and the checks simply have to stop - either literally or through runaway inflation.

That’s the only way. -—

It’s looking that way. When I get down about it, I look at countries like Poland that have recovered from communism.

I don’t think our recovery will be as swift, since the Poles understood the reason for their decline.

Our country is confused, so our eventual recovery will be halting and piecemeal, like Russia’s or China’s.

I’m still hoping for a miracle, that Cruz will be elected and will lead a movement to dismantle the leviathan state.

If a Democrap is elected, it will be a fast ride to the bottom.

It WAS your money. It is not there. It is gone. It is being paid by IOUs taken out against your grandchildren.

Is that when you started volunteering to invest in Social Security?

So I should not request my SS after having the money taken from me for 50 years?

Volunteering? Stop paying it sometime and you will see how
“voluntary” it is.

Let your conscience be your guide.

You (we) have been robbed, pilfered from, victimized by unkeepable promises.

Now, because it is MY money, we are robbing, pilfering from our children and grandchildren. Explain to them why they need to be robbed by YOU because YOU were robbed by someone else.

Sad. The house of cards WILL fall.

I once worked out how much I’d have in my SS ‘Trust Fund’ if they had invested that money (or let me invest it) in the stock market, using the yearly figures for each year they used to supply each year. It amounted to over 2 million dollars according to the EOY returns for the DJI, 2.3 million for EOY figures for S&P. But no, they used MY money to buy votes. Hell even if invested in CD’s, it was 1.1 million.

You said...
“Conservatives” receive a large number of these checks. Many people on this board are recipients.

The problem with our government is that nobody, no matter what the political persuasion, truly understands that “their” check is part of the problem. It’s always someone elses check.

Government will not get smaller until the checks stop.”

100% true. And that’s why I’m not confident that this election will change the course we are on. The debt and deficits will continue to rise because even though people want the spending cuts, they only want those cuts that affect someone else. And you’ll never please everyone

In fact, look at some of the responses you got from a couple. Proves you’re on target

The money’s gone...period. 19 trillion in debt and rising with no end in sight

Did you not read?

YOUR money is money you have control over. You do not have that. It is gone, spent.

Claim it all you want, be part of the problem. Claim your Federal Benefit check.

I paid into the SS fund for over 40 years.

Yeah ... I hear you. I have been being robbed by Fedzilla for more than 30 years, and the robbery continues.

It's still socialism. It's government control of a sector of the economy.

It is an entitlement. I am entitled to the money because I PAID for it.

It was and is an act of armed robbery. There's a difference. Yes, we are all owed compensation for the money stolen from us at gunpoint by Fedzilla under the guise of an old age pension plan. We're unlikely to get it.

I will only get back a fraction of what they stole from me.

Robbery victims seldom recover any of what the robbers stole.

I must have missed that opt-out option back in 1964 when I was first required to have money witheld for SSI.

Please explain why you think that comment is relevant or meaningful in any way.

The checks continue because we have a fiat, unbacked currency, manipulated, controlled and created out of nothing by the Federal Reserve.

It allows politicians to have unlimited debt. Its the foundation of progressive-left government.

They aren't keeping your money. Your money has already been spent. It doesn't exist. It's as gone and unrecoverable as if it had been stolen by a meth addict who promptly put it up his nose.

Next time you get a SS statement. Get yourself a calculator and a cup of coffee and figure out how big a pile of money you would have if you had only invested the money each year or put it into a savings account rather than having it confiscated by the government for a future promise. Not even close, SS recipients are getting screwed after a lifetime of confiscation.
