40? I’m going to be 60 in a two months. I’ll trade you.
Yeah, 50 was really different from 40. 40 was like 30. 50 is not like 40 at all. Now I’m 53. My grandmother is 98. So that makes me only middle aged. Ha Ha. Wait, 50 is already considered middle age. Damn, joke-telling is even more challenging after 50!
Last fall, Mrs. Henkster and I went to Orange Beach AL on my 55th birthday. The first restaurant we went to, they gave me a senior menu!!! That’s when it really hit me.
Oh brother!
I keep getting told I am eligible to live at my aunt’s (very nice) retirement apartments starting at age 55. Great place. I call it a luxury dorm for old people. It’s so nice I’d actually like it there someday when taking care of a farm is no longer possible.
I also do not like getting called Ma’am by well-meaning store clerks. No woman likes that. Sounds polite, but makes you feel 20 years older! Ha Ha.
Also not getting “carded” when you buy wine or liquor, now that’s a sure sign that nobody thinks you’re anywhere near 18-21.
I actually do still get carded every now and then. It’s my baby face!
