Dobson has never been a fanatic. He’s always operated from the realm of faith + reason.
I would quote scripture and say to him, “Come, let us reason together...”
Here is why Cruz cannot win. He is limited to the same pattern for victory as our last five or six campaigns have been limited to. They go through the traditional red states and target purple Ohio and Florida.
As an Ohioan, I don’t believe Cruz will play well in Ohio. And since Florida is really half composed of snowbird Ohioans and New Yorkers, he’ll have a monumental struggle there as well.
There is only one candidate in this race who opens up a host of other states and changes that old, limiting republican pathway to victory. That is Trump. He puts New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and others into play.
And he’ll keep the traditional red states. And he’ll play well in Florida and Ohio.
Got Populism?
1 John 4:5-6
5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.
NIV
1 John 2:16-17
16 For everything in the world â the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does â comes not from the Father but from the world.
NIV
“I know James Dobson personally and he is a man of utmost integrity and honor.
But no convincing FREEPERs any more... sadly it has turned into the TRUMPERS forum.”
I am for Trump.
That being said, I have great respect for Dobson. Trashing Trump is no better than an uninformed jerk who trashes Dobson without knowing anything about him.
It’s hard to think that genuine conservatives would be unaware of the social contributions of James Dobson, or question his integrity.
I don’t know. A lot of stuff I’m seeing here scares me away from Trump.
I think all the candidates twist things in their ads. I don’t even want to see any of the ads because they just make me disgusted with the whole lof of ‘em.
You have a higher opinion of Trump than I do but I think our basic view of politicians is much the same.
Ping that.
You have no idea who you are talking about.
Trump waffles all over the place.
I wouldn’t be surprised if after he is elected to office, he back peddles on the WALL while choosing his favorite Muslim friend for a Cabinet position.
We will find our TRUMPER-FREEPS under rugs and on drugs depressed.
Thanks, dschapin. I’ll not deny that I’ve often used Dobson’s material and ideas over the years. He’s a good man, a very bright man, and it’s a mistake to demean his contributions.
I disagree with him based on my understanding of who can win. Pastor Jeffers of Texas is also a well-respected Christian with a laudable intellect and an excellent background of thought and writing.
He thinks Trump is most likely to win. I think he is correct.
That has always been my problem with “evangelicals” is that this crap is still tolerated. Nothing has changed since the 80s. You still have hucksters like Benny Hinn and Osteen out there, as well as PTL. You have denomination after denomination flying gay flags, and they are still bilking old ladies out of money while some of these guys live in mega mansions.
And don’t get me started on the Duggars.
That is why I is astonishing how much Cruz is leaning on this hot mess to be the cornerstone of his run. He is shackling himself to a running joke and will become the parody the left has always dreamed of.
Conservative vs Liberal, a history of terms and discussion.

After you have read and thought that through read what Laz wrote here; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3372298/posts?page=85#85
So, you want to take away the first Amendment rights of pasters and Christian leaders. Leaders from all other walks of life endorse and I see no reason why Christian leaders should not do so as well. Honestly, for all of Trump’s supposed political correctness some of his supporters sound like card carrying members of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.
I agree with you.
I wish some of the overzealous Trump supporters would be a little more nuanced in their criticism of Ted’s overselling of his religion. Just because a Christian leader doesn’t support Trump, doesn’t necessarily make them a whackjob like Glenn Beck. I say this as a Christian Trump supporter.
“James Dobson is an honorable man who never abused his position of respect and who did a lot of good with focus on the family. How dare you and the other Trump supporters smear him in order to elevate your false messiah.”
James Dobson is a human being, just like you and I. He can be wrong, just like you and I.
Cruz and Trump are also human beings, just like you and I. Neither one of them is perfect, just like you and I.
I support Trump, not Cruz. I am also a Christian.
Are you saying you cannot support Trump and still be a Christian? Are you going so far as to say you must support Cruz if you are a Christian?
Trump is not my Messiah. But he is the person I support for President.
Are you saying that means I am not a Christian?
Yep. Me, too.
But, he’s left the door open to endorse Trump for the general election after Cruz loses the primary.
Maybe Trump can sue (or threaten repeatedly to sue, without ever doing it) James Dobson.
When I read your posts, I smell the ghost of “content neutrality” justices.
They can do what they want as Americans.
Just don’t take it and try to guilt and shame people as somehow being against God and Christ if you disagree with their endorsement.
They should make their endorsements as Americans, not as the person between you and God, which is how it is wielded.
“That is why I is astonishing how much Cruz is leaning on this hot mess to be the cornerstone of his run. He is shackling himself to a running joke and will become the parody the left has always dreamed of.”
SO TRUE!
“Itâs hard to think that genuine conservatives would be unaware of the social contributions of James Dobson, or question his integrity.”
There are apparently many here who don’t know who he is.
“I donât know. A lot of stuff Iâm seeing here scares me away from Trump.”
It shouldn’t. Have you seen the lies Cruzers have posted about Trump?
Be your own person, and don’t let a few jerks on either side influence your decision. You are smarter than that.
