DJT treatens to bolt (again)
via the corner | Feb 29. | D.Trump via The Today show

“Well, if they violate the pledge, which they’ve possibly already done, as you understand — if they violate the pledge, I will do something that will make them very unhappy. I have millions of followers.”

Seems that djt is quite willing to aid hillary in the election, in that no third party can realistically win the presidency.

I am not surprised really he has always been more about the sizzle than the steak to me.

I do find it odd that he is not even sure if in his own mind that the GOP as violated the pledge has he sees it.

Nonsense.

Sitting GOP U. S. Senator:

Ben Sasse @BenSasse 13h13 hours ago If Trump becomes the Republican nominee my expectation is that I'll look for some 3rd candidate – a conservative option, a Constitutionalist

Of course it is, and can you blame him? The GOPe is getting ready to go all Mississippi on him and they expect him to stand pat? The war is just beginning...

It’s already started. Astroturf “constitionalist” campaign starting by Romney connected GOP Senator Sasse:

Nice hubris

National Review this weekend says Hillary is preferable to Trump

And you’re admonishing Trump

Has it ever dawned on you that these pals of yours have NEVER EVER fought as hard against anything in their lives as they have to try to stop Trump

Don’t you wish they fought like that about the things we really care about?

.
Let’s face the fact that Trump entered this race to aid Hillary.

I do not think that is at present his primary goal any more.

Trump is now enslaved to self interest, and has become deluded into believing that he can become president.

If he goes Turd party, he does hand the victory to the Dems.

Ain't that the truth. Imagine if they put this much time/energy into immigration, tax reform, etc. They're probably mostly pissed this whole Trump ordeal is eating into their polo time.

I’m not trying not to be nervous Nellie but this is real, IMO. The GOPe fully intend to throw the election to the Hildabeast if that is the only way to stop Trump. Romney is pulling the strings to give things some deniability..

And here as me having watched and impeachment of a sitting Democrat President.. guess that was just bean bag or something.

Yes the GOP is not perfect but you work with the tools you have, reform the GOP with conservatives from the bottom up not try grab the brass ring from the top down.

Many trump supporters remind me of Libertarians (large L) in that they want to wander around for years building nothing of a base and then expect magically that there world view will win the day.

well as the statler bros sang.

Oh, we all thought we’d change the world with our great works and deeds
Or maybe we just thought the world would change to fit our needs

well it does not work that way. Trump supporters call him a pragmatist if he goes 3rd party he is quixotic at best

Burn it down, Trump! Anarchy Now!

Yep. Scorched earth is our last resort and we are there. After all the reasoning, pleading, begging, phone calls and landslide elections in 2010 and 2014 the GOP is still in lockstep with the socialist Democratics. We will not stand for unrepresentative representatives.

This would be a mistake. If Trump bolts, it opens up a spot for another Republican candidate to run. If the election goes to the House of Representatives to decide, a second Republican in the top 3 could be enough to allow the House to choose the alternative.

My first wife was eat up with the “I’m going to Leave” stupidity, just like Trump.

One evening she started in on something that was going to end with a threat to leave.
Before she got that far I walked into the bedroom and started packing her bags.
Five years of that crap were enough.

Donald, your bags are packed.

"A candidate must win majority of the popular vote to win the states electoral college electors (save Maine I think as they are tying to split theirs by Congressional dist.) DJT has not won 50% of the GOP vote in any state as of yet. So it is most unlikely that he would be able to win many all on his lonesome."

That would be incorrect. In 1992, Bill Clinton won the majority in Arkansas and DC. That's it. George H.W. Bush in none. Clinton garnered 370 electoral votes to Bush's 168.

"Facts are stubborn things."

Indeed.

“A candidate must win majority of the popular vote to win the states electoral college elector”

in what way does that imply the national vote. On a technical note I probably should have said plurality my apologies if that was confusing.

The Republican Party — the GOPe is not for the middle class. It is not for the unborn. It is not for the Constitution. It is not for national security or those who provide it. It’s for the rich. It is for crony capitalism, open borders, and unfair trade. I am not. I will not vote at all if I feel that Trump was unfairly deprived of his win. Got it?

I don’t care who wins. Elections should not be for sale. Neither should nations. Defy the national will at your own peril.

A cogent and interesting point. The odds are small though but still well thought out.

You can view it also as if the GOP kicks out Trump and they disenfranchise him he will fight back. The GOP can be quiet willing to let Hillary win. You know voters won pull the levers for whatever guy replaces if Trump wins the nomination and is stripped. So if Trump runs 3rd party of course they would follow. I would. It would be the end of the GOP.
