“only if the senate leader goes nuclear”

Which he (Harry Reid) will do, especially since he did it in the past.

Mark Kirk has zero chance of being re-elected. Illinois Republicans — except those of the lefty Mark Kirk stripe, who are, thankfully, few and far between — can’t stand him. They won’t vote for Tammy Duckworth, so they’ll either leave that race blank or write in a choice (which is what I am going to do).

I understand the feeling, but even a squishy Republican senator is better than a Democrat. Flipping Illinois from (R) to (D) is an important part of their strategy to take the Senate. Which means they control the committees, they control the voting, and they control the agenda.

I implore you not to throw your vote away. We need Kirk in the Senate, if only to block Duckworth and the Dems.

Nope. sorry. There is absolutely no difference politically between Kirk and Duckworth. Nada. Zilch.

You do know that Kirk sides with the Dems on most issues, don’t you?

Does Kirk caucus with the Democrats to elect them to leadership positions?

Cause if he doesn’t, it’s absurd to say there’s “absolutely no difference” between the two.

No, it’s not absurd. Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords and Snarlin’ Arlen Specter didn’t caucus with the Dims, but they were both Dims at heart and switched sides.

Read up on Kirk’s positions on the issues. He is in lockstep with the Dims. He has an NRA grade of F. He eagerly voted to confirm Loretta Lynch. He is pro-abortion. He agrees with bringing in legions of hostile jihadis because it is “compassionate.” The guy is a disaster. Good riddance to him. I’m too old to take it in the shorts for some illusive “tomorrow.”

Did Kirk vote for GOP leadership, or did he caucus with the Dems?

If it’s the former, then he has to stay in office until he can be replaced by a conservative, not by a liberal.

I understand the frustration of a very imperfect candidate. But handing the Senate over to the Democrats only makes things worse.
