Chicago, Trump’s Incitements, and Cruz’s Response
National review ^ | 3/13/16 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 03/13/2016 5:35:26 AM PDT by RaceBannon

It is ludicrous to argue that, because the hard Left is primarily responsible for the outbreak of chaos and violence that caused Donald Trump’s Chicago rally to be canceled last night, it is wrong to condemn the thuggery Trump often encourages at his appearances. Trump has encouraged physical battery at his campaign events, even telling supporters he’d pay their legal fees if they get arrested for assaulting dissenters. (See, e.g., Iowa event: ”So if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of ‘em, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise”; see also Las Vegas event: regarding an unruly protester removed by security, Trump tells crowd, “I’d like to punch him in the face. He’s smiling, having a good time.”) Trump has continued to fan these flames even after it has become obvious that some of his supporters are acting on the invitation to resort to violence. Incitement to violence is a crime; incitement to violence at a large rally is incitement to riot — a crime that can get people badly injured or even killed.

Nathanbedford siad:

“In my world the object is to win the general election and put a conservative in the White House.”

Then support Trump. There is no way Cruz can win the nomination outright. Trump can with his pull of other-then puritans. The only thing he and you can do is force a brokered convention where neither Trump nor Cruz will be the Nominee.

Supporting Cruz is not smart in the real world if your goal is to keep the Dems out of office. So keep supporting Hillary by Proxy.

Trump caused the Ferguson riots? It was, in part, the same group.

Trump persuaded Sanders to organize a massive anti-Trump protest? Was it a Jedi mind trick? Otherwise, how did Trump overcome Sanders’ free will?

What a load of crap.

Jeb Cruz is the Uniparty hack. Jeb Bush owns Jeb Cruz. He met with Cruz this week along with Rubio and Kaisch. Neil Bush is in charge now ! Little Jebbie Cruz was just another DC Crooked Harvard that the Bush cheap labor - crony capitalist Uniparty cartel .

That Fraud Jebbie Cruz regurgitated the same Uniparty talking points that Neil Bush had said in CNN and then Rubio and Kaisch Uniparty hacks said the same thing.

I accept your fidelity to your convictions however misguided and notwithstanding your parroting. But anger is a distraction for people as they try to perform complex cognitive thinking and tasks.

The leftists came looking for a fight. Regardless what Trump said at some other rally about some other protesters, these folks came looking for a physical confrontation. Congratulations to them, they found one. Now the narrative can be developed.

They don’t do this at Ted gatherings because of two reasons

A). Harder to get through security when the crowd size is small

B) they would get NO news coverage because the press is following trump

Your posting style leaves much to be desired

Code Pink disrupted a Cruz rally back when he was the main Republican bad guy. The left is always looking for a chance to take “direct action” against their political opponents.

Trump’s pugnacious comments are giving the left an excuse to behave very badly in going after him. They are helping the left and the media to maneuver against him and so are proving to be a tactical mistake.

Cruz’s comments compound Trump’s mistake. They make the left’s job easier. They do so by reinforcing the left’s lie that Trump’s comments have caused the disruptions. The real cause, of course, is that Trump is the frontrunner and has taken bold positions that the left hates.

Cruz’s comments were instantly leveraged by the left to prop up their big lie. That’s what’s so galling about them. Cruz made himself the left’s tool just to throw a banana peel in front of Trump.

The anti-American radicals organized this would-be riot long and hard. They gave their exact reasons for targeting him. No one said it was bc Trump advocates an active, not a passive, response to disruptors. No one claimed that as the reason.

The reason given is that Trump is a racist. Why is he a racist? He wants to build a wall and also advocates a moratorium on Muslim immigration. In the Left’s eyes, this makes Trump evil (modern liberalism knows no greater sin than discrimination). So evil that an array of radical leftists planned to destroy Trump’s Chicago rally.

Those are the facts.

“Well, that and the fact that no one listens when boring Ted speaks, and no one is at his rallies.”

Then why do the trumpettes have their knickers in a twist over Ted.

Good question. No one at his rallies, no one listening if they are there, losing social media followers by the hundreds of thousands, abandoned by all right thinking people everywhere. Here at FR? Only thing the front runner’s supporters can talk about.

>>> If a BLM rally called for shooting white people,

That’s a strawman. Trump’s comments were not a call to go and punch people outside of the venue of his rally’s, and they weren’t even a call to freely punch people inside of his rallies.

Here’s is how your analogy would have to be adjusted to be a proper reflection. let’s say BLM said it was holding an announced meeting only for its supporters and that no others would be welcome and would be treated to a punch in the face if they disrupt.

You decide to put them to the test. You go to their meeting, and don’t get punched. Then you take it up a notch and start shouting, “BLM sucks” and still don’t get punched. Then you start resisting your forcible removal from the venue by swinging at the removers. Now you get punched in the face.

I have no sympathy for you, even as I despise what BLM stands for.

Ok nate...trump made a fair point this morning on fox “has anyone been injured at any trump rallies?”

So what is it, besides political opportunism that drives the other candidates and their supporters. Are they (and you) devoid of any manly qualities, like the willingness to fight back when confronted? Are you metro sexual unuchs? If someone gets in your face, do you always back down? Are you afraid of changing things politically? Do you scream like a girl on Rollercoasters?

What is it? Who decides what language is “too violent” if nobody gets hurt. If someone causes violence whose fault is it?

Are all other candidates just wusses?

It certainly seems like it.

I freely admit Trump uses language that some may get their feelings hurt over. Cruz, Rubio, Kasich are three people who have their feelings hurt over strong working-class dialog. They have never worked a tough job with salt-of-the-earth people or they’d know not to be complete milquetoasts over a tough even violent sounding statement. They must not have had older brothers either, or they would not be so soft.

Are all of you whiny whimps? Seriously?

As a former Cruz supporter (financially), I am fully aware of his resume.

Obama is a lawyer too.

So are 95% of other members of Congress.

What has Cruz ever built or managed or run?

So your support for presidential candidate such as trump is based solely on his business experience?

Did you vote for Ross Perot on that basis also?

Cruz has esoteric I the field fur which I her is applying, namely leadership in the civic arena fur which he is the best qualified in the field. Trump had no civics experience beyond payola for legislative favoritism. This very payola is part of the very infection in our nation

Wrong!

All the cynicism is on Donald Trump's side. It is he who cannot control his big mouth and who has exploited race relations and condoned ,even encouraged, violence for cheap political advantage and in doing so has injured the Republican/conservative brand and made it less likely for a Republican candidate to become president.

How dare he risk the fate of the country for his own personal ambition!

Nicely put.

“You have just described political correctness.

Either Trump has free speech, or he does not.”

I think you meant to reply to somebody else. Free speech only means that he government can’t silence him. Which I have never advocated, because that’s not a conservative position.

Calling someone out on his endless stream of lies is not stifling his free speech. It’s simply calling him out on his endless stream of lies.

Well said, RB. Trump appears to be able to say any kind of outrageous thing, bet let Cruz say something that can simply be interpreted as off the wall, and all hell breaks loose.

Ted Cruz has never ... not once ... incited or condoned the use of violence of any sort. And yet Trump, even when attempting to appear magnanimous, has repeatedly done so.

I loathe quoting the likes of Robert Reich, but, in an editorial today, he cited several such examples, one of which was:

Weeks after Trump began his campaign by falsely alleging that Mexican immigrants are 'bringing crime, they're racists', two brothers in Boston beat with a metal poll and urinated on a 58-year-old homeless Mexican national. They subsequently told the police 'Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported.

Instead of condemning the brutality, Trump excused it by saying, 'People who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and want this country to be great again.'

Adding this reaction to those that you have mentioned, as well as dozens of others, it would appear that Donald Trump views the acceptance of violence as a situational thing. And to excoriate Ted Cruz for attempting to point that out amounts to the basest form of hypocrisy.
