Is this actually true? People in the past have claimed to be at the World Trade Centre on 9/11, for example, and it later turn out not to be true.

His claims are not the dubious. He didn’t claim to have play a role or been injured or otherwise affected by the previous attacks. Cumulatively his claims are not far fetched.

Sorry but without verified details his claims are dubious. I also survived Paris and Boston, all from my home in Nevada.

I think it was his family’s claims, not his. I’d say his story was quite plausible. There was Japanese officer who was in Hiroshima, and a few days later in Nagasaki. Both times at the wrong time. Wrong place. It happens.
Man, this kid has a dark cloud following him. This is Twilight Zone stuff.
I am reminded of the Japanese man who got out of Hiroshima, and he went home to Nagasaki.
