Not sure what is going on this evening, but the vote right now is 4/59 Cruz.

6.78%

“I wonder to what degree the FR community serves as a microcosm of the well-informed portion of the conservative electorate in general?”

Well, to date, Ted has only done well in caucus states, excluding Texas and its northern suburb, Oklahoma.

He lost the whole South and Florida, and Arizona. Frankly, he’s a really weak candidate who only does well in small controlled situations that party regulars control.

Make that 4/62 at this point with one person “won’t vote”.

Yikes.

Cruz is now under 6.5% in the caucus vote for the day.

That beats anything I’ve seen up until now.

I note the vote is light tonight, and I’m wondering if the Cruz team has pulled out.

There were some rather strange people voting for Ted here. Some of them had almost no history here.

On the in forum tool, I was able to see all of one guy’s contributions back to 2008, where it stopped. He had been here since about 2000.

Most of his comments here lately were votes on the caucus.

Cruz is now 4/68 for the day.

He has 5.88% of the vote so far.

I have seen him low early on, but never this low.

Interesting...

Are we going to see a big announcement in the next day or two?

Could it just be they are discouraged because #cruzsexscandal looms larger than #nevertrump right now?

Maybe.

It has been my take that there have been operatives here. I’m not trying to dump on regular FReepers. The honest ones are still here. I have had thoughts that we weren’t seeing normal Cruz supporters here, at least in part.

Looks like many of them departed en mass.

As you say, it may just be the scandal. We’ll see.

I don't know about them, but Heidi Cruz has pulled out, cancelling her speaking appearances.

Their funding was cut.

Cincinatus’ Wife left at about 1:30 am on the 26th.

That’s just short of three days ago.

I’ll bet there’s an announcement within a few days.

Took long enough...

That seemed like disgruntled spouse activity, so I wasn’t sure what was going on there.

Perhaps she’s simply the most visible part of the draw-down.

I’ve not been around FR for a while.
After having been back a bit for a few days, I’m guessing negative selection is occurring. If you’re a Cruz voter, why would you hang out here with so much ridiculous nonsense that gets posted?

You want to take a shot at Cruz’s record? Take one.

But well over half the criticisms of him are simply emotional or ad hominem.

And I’m sure it’s the same going the other way. This is a nonsensical primary. It’s not based in policy or positions. And it’s certainly not based in truth.

Yeah, ridiculous is a good word.

I mainly lurk on threads that I follow regularly, but FR was getting so loaded up with trolls (names I hadn’t seen before doing multiple posts with no obvious purpose but to disrupt), I found myself spending so much time scrolling through the debris field I decided to just go troll hunting and file abuse on the bad actors.

Didn’t keep score, but if I had to typify the ones I reported, I’d say they were mainly Establishment types, most of ‘em working off a script (sometimes two or three on the same thread with the same script, which I found amusing) and so predictable in their schedules I just called ‘em Trolls For Hire and accused at least one of getting paid by piecework.

Cruz fans catching flak around here is regrettable, but I’d say those TFH’s are mostly at fault for their success in knocking the usual standards in the crapper. In defense of the Trump folks getting scratchy, I’d note that if you spend enough time getting called names, there’s a point where you just decide you may as well act the part.

...I know that I’ve started to post things, then got to “review” and just dumped ‘em. Guess we all need to back off.

I think the populace gleans a lot more truth than folks suspect.

I think we are all wont to claim the high ground for our positions, no matter their epistemological foundations.
