FORT WORTH — A Tarrant County grand jury indicted a Fort Worth police officer Tuesday for shooting and wounding a man he thought could be an armed prowler.
The shooting happened at 3:30 in the morning last June 23. Craig Adams, 55, came outside his elderly parents' home for some cool air. At the same time, Fort Worth Officer Courtney Johnson responded to a Priority One call of a prowler with a knife.
The two met in Adams’ driveway on New York Avenue. Adams was holding what turned out to be a large barbeque fork.

In Texas; Tarrant, Harris, & Travis counties (and the major progressive holes residing therein) should be avoided at all costs.
Because everyone barbecues at three in the morning.

If you’re slow smoking some brisket you might be. It is Texas after all. Cops should be used to seeing someone with a BBQ fork at any time of the day or night.
So who made the “prowler with a knife” call to the police?

So, accidental (or negligent) discharge of the shotgun and hit the shoulder of the bi-polar guy who’s off his meds. There are no winners in this situation. I hope Mr. Adams has a full and speedy recovery.
But it’s another example of a lesson I learned in my younger years: If you’re at home sleeping in the middle of the night instead of being out and about, your chances of getting in trouble are greatly diminished.
I like how the shotgun just “went off” when the cop pumped it “to get the man to follow commands”.
Maybe being aware of where you’re pointing that thing would be a good idea.

Complete negligence on the part of the officer. Fire him, charge him criminally, and sue him civilly into utter bankruptcy.
Right. Hold a BBQ fork at 3 AM and don’t listen to an officer’s commands. Bingo.
I recall that a barbecue fork was used to kill the dog in the movie “Signs”.
A pen to the jugular will kill, why wouldn’t big fork?
