Brazil's government sounded the alarm Saturday over meager sales of Olympic tickets and public apathy just five months before Rio hosts South America's first Summer Games.

With worries about the Zika virus, high crime and a major political crisis already overshadowing the August 5 opening ceremony, Brazil now faces the embarrassing prospect of empty stadiums.

Sucks when you run out of other people's just in time for the Olympics. Brazil is in the bust side of another boom-bust cycle.

Perverted political class spends billions on basically hosting parties and not providing clean water for its citizens.

Not just high crime and the Zika virus. Who wants to go anywhere in crowded conditions in a polluted urban environment? Participants and tourists will be bringing in disease to that germ factory from all over the world.

Look on the bright side. Brazil gives you a chance at a rare trifecta. You could catch the Zika virus, get mugged, and catch dysentery all on the same day. Think of the stories you can tell your grandchildren!

If I had money to blow, I’d simply take water samples from public drinking fountains in Washington DC and publish the results.

Dollars to donuts, those samples would come back with 12-50 parts per billion of lead contamination, far eclipsing Flint Michigan’s pretend crisis. Oh, and be FAR more embarrassing to the liberals than a spat between two liberal cities who want each other’s money.

Just remember that Rio beat out Chicago to host these Olympics thanks to Mac Daddy Obama thought he could persuade the committee to change.

Actually, I give Obama a thumbs up for the failure. I live in the Chicago suburbs, but I would not like having the congestion and the third worlders in the city. I would just pack up and head south for a month.

The swimming and rowing events are all in BADLY polluted water ,, you can’t clean up 60 years of raw sewage discharge in a few months by diverting it a few miles away...

Come to Rio! we have dirty water , sky high prices , crime galore , preteen hookers with HIV and the best food you can find in a slum... and we got half the venues completed and none of the infrastructure... but the IOC people got their bribes on time...

Zika virus, high crime, and beaches with a coloform count higher than the average toilet. What’s not to like?

Every 4 years we hear the same crap. Facilities not ready, tickets not being sold blah blah blah. And every Olympics is considered the best one yet. The whole endeavor is corrupt and no one really gives a crap.

Actually, the ‘96 games here in ATL were the best 2-3 weeks of traffic ever. They scared so many people into leaving town or working from home that traffic was nonexistent. We’d routinely leave our suburban home an hour before the event, drive downtown at warp speed and into parking in 30 minutes, walk 15 minutes to the venue, and be in our seats in plenty of time.
