'Pizza Squirrel' Scales Michigan Tree With a Full Slice
UPI ^ | April 4, 2016 | Ben Hooper

A hungry squirrel in Michigan was caught on camera taking a cue from a famous New York subway rat by taking a slice of pizza and carrying it up a tree.

The video posted to YouTube by Chris Weeden shows the squirrel dragging a slice of pizza on the ground near a tree while the people filming from inside a nearby building provide commentary.

The people sound surprised as the squirrel is able to climb the tree while holding the slice of pizza and makes it to a high branch.

The squirrel evoked memories of New York's famous "Pizza Rat," which was recorded carrying a slice of pizza up a flight of stairs in a subway station.

"It's a bird, it's a plane. It's PIZZA SQUIRREL! Ann Arbor, MI's new Pizza Delivery service," the squirrel video's uploader joked.

Is that supposed to be a heart-shaped pizza?

I had spring like device screwed into a tree that you could screw a cob of corn onto. Was great fun watching the squirrels go for a ride until one of them figured out how to steal the whole darn contraption!!

This is a big problem sometimes. I didn’t know about the wiring being made out of something more desirable to a rodent’s palate. Rodents have been known to cause a huge amount of damage to wiring & now it sounds like it could be worse. Suppose the manufacturer will warranty it?

We re-hung bird feeders, which we have off of our deck, separate from the squirrel feeders. The squirrels came up & stole the bird ‘cage’ plus the brick of bird food. LOL! What can you do but enjoy their cleverness. :-)

It is still snowing in Michigan today.

Hot pizza is much tastier then cold nuts. :)

Being an ex-Michigander, I can honestly tell you that there's nothing worse than cold nuts ...

Yep. Rats have always been known to chew wires. They have to wear down their teeth or something like that.

The squirrels in my backyard are trying to take me out.

I came out to cook some burgers on the grill, turned the knob on top of the tank, and started pushing the igniter. The grill wouldn’t start but I could smell gas. After checking around I finally noticed the hole they chewed in the hose from the propane tank to the grill.

I was lucky.

The funniest thing - we never found the squirrel bungy jumping device. I hope what ever neighbor to it, enjoyed it. :-)
