Our internet service was switched from Verizon to Frontier Communications on April 1st. Since then I've had nothing but trouble.
Now the worst has happened. It seems to be blocking access to FreeRepublic. Anyone else in Florida, Texas or Kalifornia experiencing the same?
That's a pretty bullshit response. A bunch of us are having this issue today. I suppose we are ALL having a setup issue.
Thank you! That worked!
Thanks
Thought it worked, but it didn’t. When I try to sign in, I get a “404” error message.
I'm also in Plano and after the Verizon to Frontier switch FR was fine until sometime between 3:30 and 6:00 yesterday (4/4) afternoon. Then all I got was a "404 - Page Not Found"... looks like the DNS entries got hosed. I ended up changing the Windows hosts file to hard code the IP addresses.
Yes, as of this morning Verizon Communications now blocking FreeRepublic.com now in Los Angeles., Kalifornia!
Kentucky right now. Used 209.157.64.200. It got me to the site buy couldn’t log in. I have Time Warner. Same with my cell. I disconected my cell from Wi Fi and can now access and sign in on my cell. Weird goings on.
I was having this issue on Frontier(formerly Verizon fios) and Verizon wireless in Los Angeles starting last night. As of one minute ago, it’s working again.
Yeah I have Metrocast and this is what I’m seeing:
This site cant be reached
www.freerepublic.coms server DNS address could not be found.
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
But I try again or refresh, and it comes up.
If you have been paying attention you would know that it is an FR issue that Jim has been working on since last night. It has nothing to do with Frontier. Even if they wanted to Frontier does not have the ability to block a website from your device. Also, they are in the business of making money. They pay out large dividends to their shareholders. Limiting consumer’s options would cause a revolt among them. That’s no bullshit.
Yep, I now see that it’s intermittent. It’s solid on Verizon wireless, but flaky on Frontier.
I somewhat disagree about Frontier. FR is located in Kali and one of the states taken over by Frontier is Kalifornia. Just seems odd that the only site I can’t get on when I’m on wifi is FreeRepublic.
At least now I can use the IP address and it’s allowing me to sign in and post.
Mine went out this afternoon as well. I kept getting a Frontier search page with a message that they couldn;t find the URL.
I went to their help desk and the techie on chat had no idea what was going on or how to help. I wound up sending a email complaint to their CEO since that was an option on their help page.
I don’t know how I got back here tonight. Nothing that I did because I don’t have enough tech background to fix anything serious.
Turns out it was a FR problem if you read down in the threads. Apparently FR server was down for several hours. I guess Jim didn’t pay the bills for the website. :-)
Pretty embarrassing for me if the Frontier CEO calls me back.
