Yes. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and render unto the Lord that which is the Lord's.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.

But render unto God what is God’s.

Socialism Is Legal Plunder - Bastiat

6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt…

7. It must not be forgotten that the members of the legislative body are to have a deep stake in the game. This is an essential point, and happily is attended with no difficulty. A sufficient number, properly disposed, can alternately legislate and speculate, and speculate and legislate, and buy and sell, and sell and buy, until a due portion of the property of their constituents has passed into their hands to give them an interest against their constituents…

10. “Divide and govern” is a maxim consecrated by the experience of ages, and should be familiar in its use to every politician…

11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

AMEN!

I did ours a couple of day ago. I checked, rechecked and reviewed at least 30 times before submitting and yet, I'm still worried. I hate doing taxes.

The federal is not the one I am worried about. It's the New York State return.

Well, I've done mine. The Fed refund was enough to cover the state owed, same as every year for the last 10 years. Can't tweak it anymore without scrutiny by the IRS, so it is what it is.

But, you have relief from the April 15 deadline this year. The actual deadline is April 18 for all but Maine and Massachusetts (April 19 for Maine and Massachusetts).

Here's why: "File Form 1040 by April 18, 2016. (The due date is April 18, instead of April 15, because of the Emancipation Day holiday in the District of Columbia – even if you do not live in the District of Columbia. If you live in Maine or Massachusetts, you have until April 19, 2016, because of the Patriots' Day holiday in those states.)"

Direct from the IRS publication for 2015 1040 filing: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf

Deadline this year is April 18th as April 15th is Emancipation Day in DC.

I think the IRS fails to see the irony in that.

At least for your Federal return, you have until April 18th this year! Still, no cause to relax ...

Income tax deadline should always fall on Election Day, so voters might see some cause and effect.

Thank you so much. This is my husband’s dreadful burden every year, and he blows the deadline every year and gets an extension. He really does need prayer to slog through this.

Already did it, mailed it in, and got a nice tax refund. Of course, that's not all good news. I got the refund because of major stock market losses in 2015.

Somehow, ya just never get ahead anymore...

If you can afford it, take the pressure off the guy. Send him to H&R Block, or another reputable tax service. It'll be worth it if he has one fewer thing worry about every year.

Believe it or not, we have a tax guy. My husband does all sorts of computerized record keeping BEFORE he hands it off to the guy. I think he is a little obsessive/compulsive on this. But, to be fair, for a number of years, he had K-1s to fill out for members of an investment club. Figuring out the proportional amount of gain for each member of the club, for each stock transaction, even when the amounts were trivial, was quite the time suck every year. That burden has been lifted, as the club folded, but there are still a couple of loose ends.
In short, God Bless him, he makes it a bit harder than it has to be. To change that, prayer is definitely in order.
