The incredible shallowness of Ted Cruz’s say-anything presidential campaign
Dallas Morning News ^ | 4/22./16 | Micheal Lidenberger

Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is a machine with a broken off switch, and it’s America’s terrible, rotten, no-good luck to have to watch it play on until its batteries die. His is a shallow campaign, energetically devoted to winning votes on the cheap. He continues to ask the very least of the same America he wants to lead. This morning he blasted Donald Trump for being soft on the bathroom issue. “Gosh, he thought that men should be able to go into the girls’ bathroom if they want to,” he told a crowd hundreds strong in Frederick, Md., reports Washington bureau chief Todd Gillman. “Have we gone stark raving nuts?” Trump’s offending comments? Earlier Trump had been asked about North Carolina’s ...

Leave it to the DMN to totally get it wrong about about which candidate is the “say anything” candidate.

Hey, if you don’t like where The Donald stands on a given issue. . . . give him 5 minutes. 30, tops. .

The answer is: yes, yes we have. We’ve gone stark raving nuts across the board. So fixing this isn’t going to be done on the margins. It’s going to be done by fixing the big things first then worrying about the smaller ones.

When I say big things, I’m talking about 90+ million unemployed/underemployed. And the stark raving nuts type of policies like Ted’s “let’s bring in a half-million H1B visa holders every single year” initiative, which he only backed off of when he realized it was a campaign-ender. Keeping transvestites out of womens’ bathrooms, as common-sense as it may be, is a trivial non-issue for people who don’t have a pot of their own to piss in, which applies to more and more and more Americans every day.

All I’ve heard Cruz talk about for the last several weeks is Trump. Has he even addressed any issues, or does he think that defeating Trump is the be all and end all of issues?

Trump is wrong on men using little girl bathrooms.

And for what it’s worth, the New Testament rejects cross dressing, so it falls under the sexual immortality provision of Acts 15.

I will not support that which I know to be wrong.

And, it’s possible to say that a candidate is wrong in these places but right in these others. Trump’s wrong on this one. So is the media.

Trump said something eminently reasonable about the discriminatory law that has stirred up a nationwide backlash against North Carolina.

“There have been very few complaints the way it is,” he said. “People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. The problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment they are taking.”

Trump, working against type, stepped away from the crazy.

My God, what a horrible thing to say! /s

Applying absolute criteria on every trivial issue is a great way to insure that no one at all consults your opinion on anything.

Wrong. It's goes to the core of who Trump is: a New York values liberal. In the same town hall that Trump chastised North Carolina's bathroom law he also exposed his de facto amnesty plan, aka, path to citizenship.

I think it's too late for America to wake up from their Trump fantasy dream but I'm sure that there's going to be a helluva lot of buyers remorse if he's elected.

Trump isn’t talking about the morality of the issue, but about the political reality of it.

It goes to the core of what your priorities are.

Are your priorities putting this country back to work, back to the path to prosperity? OR are they on fighting social conflicts to the bitter end?

If your priority is the latter, you will find yourself more and more marginalized over time, as the past four decades have proven.

We would like to have you as part of a successful political coalition, but if you’re that unable to see the forest for the trees, we’re better off without you.

That your fellow Americans are largely on the knife edge of financial ruin should be a higher priority to you, if you had any morals worth a damn.

This is a serious question, because I’m really trying to understand the Hate Cruz thing.

So Trump supports letting men (could be perverts, pedophiles, we don’t know. But we do know they have mental issues or else they would not be having their manhood removed) go to women’s bathrooms where your wife/mother/daughter/sister does her business, and you think that’s a good thing?

And you hate Cruz for not supporting it?

You do realize this is a CONSERVATIVE forum, right? And the commentary was written by a liberal, right?

Hey, I will support Trump if I have to. And there are a lot of things to like about Trump. But I totally do not understand Cruz haters who think it’s great when Trump adopts a liberal stance on something.

I was really expecting this to be Cruz’ election, but he has hit that “say anything” stage. He should have at least called Bernie’s terrorists what they were.

Right.

We need another Harvard Law, first term Senator as President.

At least Cruz hasn't sealed his records.

Oh, wait.
