Super PACs for Cruz spend millions to sway/bribe/poach delegates from Trump
RNC Meeting Spring News 2016 and super PAC research | April 24, 2016 | Self - RNC spring convention observation

Posted on 04/24/2016 11:47:35 AM PDT by Beautiful_Gracious_Skies

In addition to "grass-roots" campaign workers, there are at least eight Super PACs backed by 'shadow elites' who are driven to defeat Donald Trump and they are banking on Ted Cruz. At least one of these super PAC leaders, Katie Packer of OPP, met behind closed doors at the RNC Spring Meeting this week in Florida. Packer states that a republican candidate should "uphold orthodox GOP ideology." This smacks of irony given her past allegiance with Romney/Ryan and Ryan's inability to uphold GOP principles as Speaker of the House.

The super PACs are calling, texting, emailing, lobbying, and all-out wining & dining the 2,472 delegates who will vote at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Elite super PACs directly interfere and influence delegates' decisions which is an encroachment and perversion of the electoral process. These deep-pocketed super PACs are funded by a small cadre of shadow billionaires. They appear to work in tandem with TeamCruz, yet just outside the confines of his official campaign to avoid scrutiny and violations from the FEC. After months of campaigning, the race boils down to a delegate battle funded by the shadowy money of a few elites, rather than the reflection of the caucus and primary votes.

While some super PACs were focused on advertising, they are currently playing a huge outside role in courting and flipping delegates for Cruz. The Our Principles PAC (OPP), run by Romney's 2012 deputy campaign manager -Katie Packer, is an organization developed exclusively for defeating Donald J. Trump. At the Spring RNC meeting in Florida, Packer distributed a four page plan to promote her delegate strategy.

OPP is the most well funded #NeverTrump super PAC. Funded by the Ricketts family -billionaire owners of the Chicago Cubs, OPP has spent $16,000,000 to defeat Trump. In addition to negative media advertising, they hire workers to distribute anti-Trump literature which can be found at precincts and state conventions. OPP's mission is to organize delegates and deploy any number of tactics with the goal of depriving Trump of as many delegates as possible in upcoming contests.

The culmination of the OPP effort is the utilization of staffers to target every state delegate bound or unbound. They seek to convince them by hook or crook to dump Trump at their respective state convention or in July at the RNC convention. Those already pledged to Trump after winning their state are being luxuriously lobbied to back Cruz on the subsequent ballots. The primary purpose of OPP, no matter the cost, no matter the ethics, is to ensure as few as possible delegates will be inclined to support Donald Trump.

Another anti-Trump super PAC, #NeverTrump, has focused on the logistics of the RNC convention in Cleveland. They have booked hundreds of hotel rooms in order to comp the targeted republican delegates. NeverTrump began as a grassroots group started by allies of former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.). They have endorsed Cruz in some states and Kasich in others, frustrating both candidates. NeverTrump is pushing Kasich in Maryland, and Cruz in Indiana. Paul Singer, the billionaire hedge funder, is another elite that has already wasted millions on negative Trump advertising to no avail. Now Singer is spending his millions scheming behind the scenes to reduce the numbers of Trump delegates that Donald Trump has earned.

Be forewarned. What is being done to Trump by destructive outside forces can also be done behind the scenes to Cruz at the convention. In the end, these same strategists and operatives manipulating this election cycle aren’t just alienating potential GOP voters. They are positioning to help the GOP lose the White House. Again.

Supposing someone knew delegates and one confided that they had evidence of bribe, why would they tell you—” Bruce Campbells Chin”? The correct thing to do would be to bring the evidence to the FEC, of course. And for kicks, they would inform the Trump campaign and allow them to address the issue?

Perhaps a friend’s-friend contacted Junior. Or there are many others..........

http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/24/politics/donald-trump-jr-ted-cruz-bribery/index.html

According to the Federal Election Commission delegate bribing is uncharted territory. As a rule, desperate presidential candidates swimming in uncharted waters may be willing to take some chances, especially if vague and untested laws create opportunities.

These may not be literal cash bribes (or they may). But if a super PAC is buying plane tickets, renting luxury hotel suites, stretch limos, dancing girls for parties, booze, tickets for concerts and entertainment, 5-star dinners, more booze, masseuse, wardrobes, salon expenses, etc. that is all legal and wouldn’t even have to be disclosed under current rules.

Chin, as an ethical FR member.

Are those ‘favors’ bribes?

I can accept Trump's positions on the issues. It's the way he's conducted his campaign that makes me sick. The Lyin' Ted, Little Marco, comments about the way Fiorina looks, the claims that the whole party is crooked, etc.., if he will s the nominatio, it'll be trashing the entire rest of the party, which I do not support.

So, the warm spit. And even a week ago, I'd have taken him over Kasich, who I can't stand either.

I'm supporting Cruz only by default, and would vote for a bucket of warm spit that has an "R" after their name before Trump.

That’s nice. I’m not NeverTrump, though.

So you're calling for a contested convention, but you'll vote for Trump when he gets the nomination?

You sure sound a lot like "NeverTrump"...

Vote Trump

To back up their otherwise completely unsupported claim that they witnessed it. See, I'm not asking or expecting anyone to believe anything. But you are.

The correct thing to do would be to bring the evidence to the FEC, of course.

Why is that "of course" the correct hing to do? I thought bribery of delegates was legal. In which case, why would the FEC care? So sorry, you're going to need a better excise than that to explain why you won't provide any details for your claim.

And if you're going to make that kind of accusation, but refuse to provide any specifics or evidence to support it, then why should anyone believe that you're telling the truth? Sound more like you just made it all up, and are now coming up with some lame excuse why you won't provide any details.

In other words, you're probably just a liar.

It’s beyond condoning the activity. They are literally in bed with the super PACs.

The RNC allowed the OPP super PAC to hold court at the convention for nearly two hours!

Paul Ryan is holding a $33,400 per head dinner tomorrow in NY at the Ricketts home -super PAC NeverTrump (OPP) as a republican fundraiser.

Well, you're right about that. Jeb dropped out awhile back, so "warm spit" is no longer an option....

Worst candidate ever.

So much for giving you the benefit of doubt that you uphold any semblance of ethics. You fail to answer the question and misdirect which indicates you likely condone Cruz doing—> ‘whatever it takes.’

There are so many ways to bribe a person beyond depositing a check directly in their personal bank account. We all know that.

Why would a PAC collect tens of millions of dollars for the sole purpose to ‘flip’ 2473 delegates. How can they spend the $$$$$$$$$$$.

How could they legitimately require that much money to convince so few? Is this a Monopoly Delegate Game?

Well toss the dice:

It’s time to watch which delegates purchase new homes, boats, cars, season football tickets, and cruises this Christmas!!!!

“Last Thursday I changed my CT registration from NON AFFILIATED to REPUBLICAN only so that I can vote for Trump on Tuesday’s CT primary. But I’m changing it right back to NON AFFILIATED.

I am embarrassed to call myself a Republican after the GOP/Cruz shenanigans being pulled to deny Trump his rightful place as nominee.

Perhaps President Trump will make it safe to be a Republican again. We shall see. “

I hear ya...I just did the same for my state...been sick to my stomach ever since.

You fail to answer the question and misdirect which indicates you likely condone Cruz doing—> ‘whatever it takes.’

That is an absolute joke of a response. What question are you claiming I did not answer? The one where you asked why anyone with such information would post it here rather than informing the FEC? I answered that question as directly as possible: 1) to prove the statement they made was was true, and 2) it isn't illegal so reporting it to the FEC is nonsense anyway.

You're last post make it clear that you were just b.s.'ing the whole time anyway. No longer are you claiming that you actually witnessed bribery. Instead, it's now just "well, they must have been spending all that PAC money on something. That's the sum total of you "evidence".

You're just a liar, posting that you personally witnessed something that you really didn't. Thanks for doing your part to drag this primary even deeper into the sewer in which we now find ourselves. Issues no longer matter, and insults/smears are par for the course.

When whomever the nominee is (and it will probably be Trump) gets crushed, and GOP control of Congress goes down with him, it will be because of people like you.
