Confessed time-traveller pretty sure he'll win U.S. presidency

If Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton don't resonate with American voters, they always have Andrew Basiago -- a presidential candidate who is pretty sure he's going to become "either president or vice-president" between 2016 and 2028, according to information he's gathered time travelling.

Cheekily calling his campaign "a time for truth," Basiago, 54, brags on his site that he "served bravely in the two secret U.S. defence projects in which time travel on Earth and voyages to Mars were first undertaken."

Basiago -- who has made similar claims in the past -- also said he's helped several former presidents make important decisions by gathering knowledge through time travelling. Now it's his turn.

It's no surprise then that further exposing these secret technologies is a big part of the Seattle lawyer's promises if elected.

"Project Pegasus developed eight modalities of time travel by 1970, only to keep this great technical feat of our nation -- the advent of time travel -- secret from the American people," reads one of the independent candidate's promises. "Only by disclosing its time travel technologies can America unleash the potential that these technologies have to advantage humanity in the 21st century."

He's also promised to expose a secret Mars colony, alien contact, and wants to put the sasquatch on the endangered species list.

Basiago officially registered to run earlier this year. He's raising money on his website and through social media.

also said he's helped several former presidents make important decisions

If he's really a time traveler, why hasn't he helped future presidents, as well?

So, if he is a time traveler, why didn’t he go kill Hitler when he was a young layabout in Vienna? Could have made it look like an accident. Doesn’t he have a social conscience? He could have saved millions of lives.

I think it is more mental illness and needs to be put in an insane asylum/declared insane. He truly believes what he is saying. This loon also claimed Obama walked on Mars. He is dead serious about it.

He needs to open a non-prophet foundation.

If he was from the future, he would already know if he won and he wouldn’t have to come back and run again.

So he is obviously trying to change the time line, probably because he lost his girlfriend and he thinks that by becoming President he can help his former self retain her.

But It won’t work because if it will, she would be with him now.

He needs to be stopped at all costs.

Your comment made me recall a short story on the web where a time traveler went back in time to WW1 and killed a French artillery soldier who became the dictator of a resurgent France that conquered all of Europe. But when the artillery soldier was killed then he didn’t fire the shell that would have killed a German corporal...

Sounds like he could be a good fit with the Natural Law Party and their Yogic Flying Air Force.
