Target’s Stock Down 5 Percent, Brand Damaged, by Public Rebuke to Pro-Transgender Bathroom Rules

Target’s stock price and its favorability among shoppers are crashing as the public rebukes the retail giant for ignoring their vigorous protest against mixed-sex changing rooms and bathrooms.

The company’s stock was two cents shy of $84 on August 19, when it revealed it would not allow shoppers to use single-sex bathrooms or changing rooms. Instead, all rooms were opened up to anyone claiming to be of either sex. As of 4.00 p.m. Friday, the stock had dropped almost $4.50, down to $79.50.

That’s a huge loss of 5 percent in stock value, costing shareholders roughly $2.5 billion in company value.

In between those two dates, more than one million people had signed a boycott petition sponsored by the American Family Association. Public opinion also shifted strongly in favor of single-sex bathrooms.

The damage to Target’s favorability is also being tracked by YouGov’s BrandIndex service.

Well, no worries.

They’ll make up the difference when all the trannies come in to shop.

Because there’s SO many more of them than normal folks, after all.

Stockholders should sue those responsible for the decision.

I’ll never step foot in there until they repeal this stupid and dangerous policy. If I need some cheap products I’ll just go to Walmart.

“In fact, advocates of the policy say it will help Target gain more liberal upper income customers. “

Right. Because everyone knows that Target is at the top of the “wanna-try-it-out” list of most upper income shoppers, especially because they’re so eager to buy low-end merchandise as a political statement.

This will cripple them without a rape.

Why would you ever forgive them and go back? If they did repeal this stupid and dangerous policy it will only be because the stock holders ordered them to. Not because they see the wrong.

Only down 5%? It should've crashed so hard today it would've been delisted.

I didn’t realize that they announced this last August.

(I’m always a day late and a dollar short) :-)

Target does step up brands from Walmart and it mostly serves the lower middle to middle class shoppers. They will be screwed if they don’t smarten up quickly.

In my area, Target is the “un-Wal Mart” for upper middle class moms. Cleaner, quieter, nicer looking, etc.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out.
I’d recommend puts on TRGT stock, except they may change the policy and the investment aspect isn’t so assured.

yes — Millions in open retaliation. Their President is finished but just fathom the toilet area rape of an 11 year old girl. You cannot over estimate the national rage. IMO stores will be torched.

My beef with Target began with them booting the Christmas ringers and then telling me they didn’t want me carrying a concealed sidearm in their store. THat was a few years ago, I think. Haven’t been in one since.

The scariest thing would be if Walmart announced the same policy. They already have enough freaks and weirdos in there. Can you imagine? It would be a magnet for every pervert around.

Kohle’s is the “upscale” chain around here; more “upscale” than Target.
