Why have so many here on FR turned on Ted Cruz in such a vicious way?
We cheered when we first heard about Ted taking on the establishment in TX to win the primary in the race to fill Kay Bailey Hutchison's vacated Senate seat, in a bad year for the GOP
We cheered again when Ted exhorted us to 'Stand With Rand' when he offered public support for Rand Paul's filibuster over the NDAA
Once more, we cheered when he stood on the Senate floor and urged his colleagues to join him and use the power of the purse to kill Obamacare
We nodded our collective heads in approval when he openly and correctly called Mitch McConnell a liar
And we jumped for joy when he became the first GOPer to announce a presidential run!
So ... what happened? Yes, Trump announced. But at first, not too many people took him seriously. For the longest time, there seemed to be an unspoken pact between Trump and Cruz, where they occasionally said nice things about each other while bashing the other candidates.
But ever since the voting began and Trump turned on Cruz (starting with the Ben Carson imbroglio in Iowa), a large contingent of FReepers did the same and seem to be echoing RINOs like John Boehner and Peter King in their absolute abhorrence of Cruz.
Yes, we need to choose sides, but for God's sake, can't we send that kind of vitriol in the direction that it belongs, ie. Hildabeast and the 'Rat Party, and knock off the circular firing squad?
And yet you can’t directly quote the post or any part thereof where I said anything amiss. Your accusations against me are baseless.
You are absurd. All of your post 385 is amiss because, for the about 4th time I have to point out, you are failing to see that it is not only the Cruz supporters.

I can only post honestly about what I have personally observed. I did that, and it sent you into false accusation overdrive. Sad to see.
For me, it was the debate after Iowa when Carson held Cruz’ feet to the fire over the rumor he was dropping out. Cruz said he didn’t know the truth until 9:30 PM, but Carson said his team tweeted out a denial at 6:30 PM. So either Cruz’ staff was incompetent or Cruz is a liar. After that, I didn’t trust him.
I got on the Trump train in October but Cruz was a close second because I wasn’t sure Trump would survive to the end. After the Carson debacle, Cruz lost all of my respect...and my vote.

Someone in the Cruz campaign should have had the foresight to realize how easily the ‘TrusTed’ meme could be turned around on Cruz.
That no one did, speaks to how unprepared Ted was for all of this.
That sums it up for me. I didn’t know anything about Cruz BUT my BS meter went off immediately. There was something smarmy about him. It is visceral. His looks (tho not his fault) didnt help. I also had a big problem with a Hispanic Presidential candidate at a time we are being invaded by Hispanic illegals felt unwise. When the “sent by God” anointed savior stuff began my alarms went off. Too much like the “The One” hosannas for Obama. He might not have started it but he still doesn’t mind using it. In his last speech he STILL seems to have a messianic complex. Being a lawyer and career politician was enough to overcome. Slick “I’m really the winner and your destined leader” pontificating made him unthinkable . I’m not totally thrilled with Trumps personality but we don’t have a Reagan to choose and Hillary must not enter the White House. Other than Trump I’m for a military coup. I’m that disgusted...and so are millions of others.
If memory serves, the bad blood between CRuz and Trump began when a hidden video was exposed showing CRuz badmouthing Trump at a private fundraiser.
I also think that it is Trumps research that exposed that and that also exposed Rafael Cruzs history with Lee Harvey Oswald.
Sixth sense...thank you. As a Senator from Texas what has he done to halt Mexification?? He couldn’t stop the invasion alone but has he called for a Wall..a secure border? No. Has he been in the trenches FIGHTING against the illegals pouring into Texas from the beginning? Would Hispanics choose him Because he is Hispanic? Of course. So he can’t oppose the invasion. That is the most important thing for me. Stop the invasion. Deport ALL illegals. I dont care how ugly it has to get.Enough!
I am not opposed to Cruz. I do not hate Cruz.
I support him for senator, supreme court, vp, you name it.
But, I switched to Trump.
I want the best for Cruz, and I consider him to be as conservative as anyone else out there.
We should NOT be injuring ANY of our conservatives in the US Senate in particular. We might lose the Senate. We need every one of them we can get.
I guess after last night I have my answer to the question in the title of this thread that was posted back in early May. What a disappointment.
