The world's biggest-ever cruise ship, the 227,000-tonne Harmony of the Seas, a luxury home on the waves for 8,500 passengers and crew, was handed over by a French shipyard on Thursday after a 40-month engineering feat. At 218ft, it is the widest cruise ship ever built, while its 1,187ft length makes it 164ft longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower. The immense floating town, which cost close to one billion euros (£800 million), has 18 decks and will be able to carry 6,360 passengers and 2,100 crew members.

7 of which speak English. No joke, the vast majority of crew other than (most)of the ones that interact with passengers do not. At least that’s been my experience on cruise ships.......Having said that, I really haven’t had a bad experience yet, never gotten sick. Just lucky I guess. :^)
Some people enjoy cruises, but you would have to pay me a lot of money, to get on that floating sardine can with 5000 other people.
Give me a mountain range somewhere to wander through for a few days instead.
Look on the bright side...the author didn’t write “it is five times shorter than a mile in length.”
I’ll stick to the serenity of paddling my 16’ kayak down a secluded river.
I haven’t been on any and the novelty is already gone.
My wife and I did a 32 day cruise about 5 years ago, and that cured us of ever wanting to do a big ship cruise again!

I absolutely refuse to get on a ship that has 8,000 people who would not have the slightest notion of what to do in an emergency and only 2,000 people who might have some idea of what to do.
The large ships are a major hassle when they’re at a port. Another thing, God forbid they ever had to be evacuated. It can’t be done.

Actually, a family of four can sail this ship for less than $600 per person for a seven day cruise. Well within middle class reach.

The ocean is my love. In the past, sailing was my love, as well as canal boats. I even love ferries.
This monstrosity would never make the list. Will anyone on it ever look at the ocean?

After going on a river cruise, to Normandy, my husband and I will never step foot on a large ship again. Total number passengers on our cruise...120.
After the 1997 Titanic flick was released, someone announced that a Titanic II would be built, identical except for infrastructure and of course, enough lifeboats.
Wonder what became of that project? Anyway, I wouldn’t board this behemoth for all the tea in China.
Imagine a system flush failure on that barge? World’s biggest garbage scow within minutes.
