Vaping is awesome. It has the potential to help a lot of people kick the habit.

Anyone want to guess why there is so much obesity now?

I still think that is, in part, caused by additives to food and growth hormones injected in animals.

I recall years ago reports that some growth hormones survive cooking.

Nobody like smoking carpet glue, the cheap pre-existing flame retardant used in the required Fire Safe Cigarettes.

“Never even thought about cigarettes once I started vaping.”

Same here, but only 45 years at 2 packs per day.

Went into the smoke shop to buy some cigs and the girl asked if I’d like to try an e-cig. Sure, why not?

Bought one and haven’t had any desire at all for a cigarette since. Like you, my cough disappeared within a week. Been over 2 years now and feel better every day. My 3 boys can’t keep up with old dad in the woods, hah!

Good luck to you, my FRiend.

Yes indeed. But from the article...

As today's teenage e-cigarette users become adults in the next few years, "we may see 18-, 19- and 20-year olds pick up the (smoking) habit,"

The paradox is that while vaping may help adults quit, they may also turn a new generation of kids into addicts that vape AND smoke.

Been a recovering tobacco addict since 1999. Still want a cigarette every day. Smoked 2-3 packs a day for 40 years. Convinced I’d be dead today if I had not stopped.

Over thirty years ago, I cut back to 1/2 pack or less. A year ago I cut back from 4-5 cig. per night, to zero, zip, nada.

Two by-products of quitting.

One, weight gain of about 15 pounds.

Two, changed my life rhythms to awaken earlier, and go to sleep earlier. This was a surprise. Recently I learned that cigarettes are a stimulant, keeping the night-smoker like me awake until later.

Overall I am glad I quit, but I admit to having enjoyed certain aspects of smoking. Smoking probably killed my father.

Rush is always promoting smoking cigars.
It is a nastier smell then cigarettes.

You could almost predict this from Free Republic postings.

When I signed up and for a few years after, there was a particularly nasty "smoker's Mafia" that would gang up on any thread criticizing smoking.

I never see them anymore, nor most of the participant names I recall. Hope they are all in good health and still with us.

I never smoked really, but started vaping several months ago.

The flavors are amazing. Butter Rum LifeSaver!

God was merciful; He just reached down and turned off any desire for another smoke, and that was that.

That's exactly how it went for me. It's like a switch was turned off.

Many of them are still around. They just don’t swarm threads like they use to.

At .55 a pack you’re beating my .75 per pack cost. Locally tobacco prices vary by county and city but tubes are usually $2.50 a carton.

That's filtered tubes. I use non-filtered (Athey brand) which were $1 per box of 400 tubes (I got 100 boxes i.e. 200 cartons, when I got them 6 months ago at Lil'brown Smoke Shack). I get bulk tobacco in 5 pound bags for ~$50-60 each at Tobacco General.

I cut my teeth on Lucky Strike then Raleigh (when they had the coupons on each pack) switched to Marlboro years later.
Don’t think I want to go back to filterless cigarettes.
I’ll stick with the filtered tubes.

Bookmarked the website, I’ll keep an eye out for deals, maybe try some different tobacco.

“I have noticed in the 7+ years I have lived here that there is usually at least 1 smoker and many times 2 smokers among the young residents.”

I’ll be darned-—I assumed you were going to say that the older ones were the smokers.
