How getting stomped by Donald Trump saved Ted Cruz's career (sent to me, by a fan of Ted Cruz)

This article has something with the formatting, which seems to not allow a copy of part of the text. So I will just link to the article, if you would like to click on the ling, that is up to you. I think it is interesting article.

I am just writing this, to recognize there are a lot of Cruz supporters here, and to encourage discussion between both side, to rebuild teamwork on our side for November.

Please just understand, this was sent to me by a very loyal Ted Cruz supporter. I assure you.

Enjoy please. Good job Ted Cruz in a good competition, and best of luck to our candidate in the fall.

I believe Trump will win this. Let's all get together, and support him.

Beltway kabuki. Cruz missed an important Senate vote last week for some pool time in Mexico. No do-overs on that one.

Same BS, different year.

I’ve followed Cruz since the first debate, and as I listened to him and saw the stunts he pulled in Iowa and since the, I wil NEVER trust this guy. People say he is a “conservative.” In my book, conservatives are ethical... they don’t lie.

Cruz has my vote anytime I can vote for him. I also happen to be a Texan by birth.

Cruz held Dewhurst under 50 in that Senate election, forcing the run off that nobody came to, except the religiously political religious Right. Cruz won that run off with 4% of the Republican vote, I read.

Where did you read that?

The primary results were Dewhurst 44.8%, Cruz 34.2%, Leppert 13.3%, and another half-dozen in single digits.

The runoff came in 56.8% Cruz to 43.2% Dewhurst. That's a lot wider than 4%.

In the general, Cruz got 56.6%, the 'Rat got 40.5%, the Losertarian took 2.1%, and the Watermelon 0.9%.

What a joke!

So Cruz ran to win, but he ran to win in such a good way that losing was better than winning? what a guy LOL , he’s so smart - (read self serving)

This article seems to be worded like a high school girl, bits of starry eyed and look on the bright side, and super glossing over glaring issues with Cruz as a person, and all that was wrong about him as a candidate/politician, and is he even eligible to hold his office since his birth location is in question and it seems some of his home state folks take issue with that.

As a Cruz supporter (I’m supporting his Senate campaign), I appreciate that people are beginning to really analyze this situation.

While I have not yet read the article (but I will), I wanted to note that there is another STAR in the Trump family, and he’s Donald Trump, Jr. I’ve seen him speak several times, but the one that impressed me the most was a very long Q&A session .. and I was very surprised that he did not have any notes (no teleprompter); he just stood there and answered the questions .. and his answers were very conservative.

It was because of Donald Jr.’s Q&A that I felt I learned what his DAD really believes. It’s lessened the disappointment of Cruz not getting the nomination, but there’s still a chance Trump could choose him as his VP. In all the lists I see, Ted’s name is still among some of those named.

I supported Ted because I’ve followed his career for 16 years, and I was pretty confident I knew what kind of person he was; and is. I am very sure he would make a great VP .. just the kind of person who could help Trump navigate the Congress; help with the writing of legislation to conform to the Constitution, which would accomplish the righting of this country; he’s a gentleman and would be an excellent emissary to other nations.

Well, I hope others will take a listen to Donald Jr. and realize that he’s probably speaking all the things he’s heard from his DAD over the years.

No problem here:
Surely, losing to the New York billionaire... even among the Christian conservatives Cruz counted as his electoral rock, must have been hard and embarrassing. But it was also a godsend. Losing to Trump saved Cruz from ruining his political career. Barring a (not implausible) meltdown among Democrats or their almost certain nominee, Hillary Clinton, Cruz would have lost in November. He is, after all, to the right of Trump on just about every issue and lacks the charm or charisma or ideological flexibility to make his positions palatable to a majority of Americans. But now, Cruz gets to fall back on his cushy $174,000-a-year job as a U.S. senator, with about $9 million left in his campaign war chest and no campaign debt. Presumably, his wife gets to return to her job at Goldman Sachs.

The Cruz haters on this site are the low IQ types who heard from some guy that Cruz’s dad helped kill JFK. Just keep on hating if that helps get Trump elected.

This is the kind of condescending, holier than thou post from Cruzers that helped seal his defeat.

Just keep telling yourself that Trump supporters are stupid, I'm sure that will help you salve your wounds. Alternatively, keep reminding Trump supporters of what assholes Cruz supporters have been, constantly believing that insulting the supporters of another candidate will help your own.

Btw, I was a Cruz supporter until January, when it became clear to me that Trump was simply the better candidate. That's more clear than ever now and has been with every passing month.

I am so sorry NOT to fill the small souled stereotype you would like to believe in, perhaps you should go join the Blaze now.........

I plan to vote Trump but when I see the hatred and ridicule of the most conservative senator in Congress that tells me a lot about the haters. That is a fact.

Maybe it’s still too early for me but, how can Cruz help Trump navigate Congress when Congress hates him (Cruz)?

I agree about Don Trump Jr. I’ve heard him several times (on TV) and he is very good. As I’ve posted previously, I think he should run for Mayor of NY - he’d be so much better than DeBlasio! Trump has some very bright and articulate kids!

the most conservative senator in Congress

Actually, the most conservative Senator is Jeff Sessions, not Cruz, there are a handful that are similarly conservative as is was Cruz (he earned the "was" by siding with #blacklivesmatter over the Chicago violence, along with other things he did until the end of his campaign - He CAN earn it back, but let's see if he does).

I liked Cruz, like I said, until January I preferred him, supported him in EVERY way.

I don't care for the nastiness that occurred between Trump and Cruz supporters, tried mostly to avoid it myself, but let me say this: the nastiness came from both sides. Equally. It was a heated primary, it's unfortunate, but that happens, virtually every four years.

Now you can do one of two things. You can realize the nastiness was equal, and move on. Or, you can hate both sets of supporters equally. At least that would be honest.

NOTHING... I repeat nothing will save Ted Cruz. No matter how they refurbish him… No matter what political steps he takes… At the end of the day he will still be “Ted Cruz”.

... This man simply drips insincerity. I believe his true call would have been better served as a 2 AM to 3 AM televangelist, selling prayer cloths dipped in his sweat.

... I have seen a 1000 of this type of guy....lol.. And Ted Cruz… He would have been their prince.

To: Not gonna take it anymore

It’s not about a popularity contest for Cruz; it’s really about the Congress’s responsibility to THE PEOPLE to abide by the Constitution. Cruz is always chastening the Congress for not keeping their word to THE PEOPLE.

And, consider this; what will happen if Mitch McConnell (who is Trump’s golf buddy) gives Cruz a bunch of grief about legislation Trump wants passed ..??

What do you think would happen ..?? I think Mitch would be told to work with Cruz. This would be a bitter pill for Mitch, but I really think it could happen.

And, don’t forget, the VP presides over the Senate in case of a TIE - and that would give Cruz the opportunity to grant the yes or no vote .. for whichever the President wanted.

As for “Congress hates him (Cruz)” .. this is only said by people who hate that Cruz is always pointing out how lazy the Congress is; how the Congress will never hold Obama accountable for his assaults on the Constitution; how the Congress is more interested in letting the DemocRATS have what they want, instead of using common sense and the law to stop serving the DemocRATS’ wants, and start listening to what THE PEOPLE have told the Congress they want the Congress to do.

I firmly believe that Cruz is the only one with a stiff enough spine to handle the Congress for Trump.

When is the next Mayor election in NYC ..??

RE: Cruz 4%

<< “ Where did you read that?” >>

I had to dig around a little to answer your question. I could not remember where I read it, frankly. YIKES!

The link I found is not the source from which I read about the 4%, but may be the original source:

ivn.us/2015/03/24 (whoever that is?)

“Ted Cruz was chosen ........ by less than 4 percent of the eligible voting population by virtue of winning his low-turnout (under 12%) Republican primary. “

“In short, Ted Cruz got 631,812 votes in the Primary {against a no-name Democrat) to win a seat that represents 26.97 people.”

The premise of this article seems to be more about gerry mandering, than Cruz, who is used as an example— that “90% of elections are actually decided in low turnout primary elections, due in large part to partisan gerrymandering.”

Hope this helps a little.
