Flag protocols used to call for a fallen flag to be burned, I think?
Anyone know?

To be fair, her name should have been included in the quote.

Huzzah for the young man. However he was probably lucky he was not arrested for trespassing on school grounds.

Just read this on American Legion website:
Care should be exercised in the handling of the flag, to protect it from becoming soiled or damaged. However, you are not required to destroy the flag if it touches the ground. As long as the flag remains suitable for display, even if washing or dry-cleaning (which is an acceptable practice) is required, the flag may continue to be displayed.

I guess it was because in the service, it was drilled into us to never let the flag touch the ground....

A soiled flag.
Just touching the ground is disrespectful, but if it’s not permanently soiled or torn, it’s fine.
Basic flag etiquette was NEVER taught in any of my schooling from 1965-1978. I was taught it in the Boy Scouts. I guess I shouldn’t be shocked that adults don’t “get it.”

Yes. I wonder if protocol changed, or that was never correct.
At any rate we learned love and regard for the American flag. In grade school I remember viewing a film on the history of the flag and the stars and stripes.
God has blessed America.
Thanks, Rita

Thanks for posting. Just when I’m low and think everybody sucks, turns out not everybody sucks. Gave me a lump in my throat. Great for Memorial Day weekend. Where was this btw?
To: americas.best.days...
Amen, it’s a uplifting story for Memorial Day.
I tried to find where this took place by googling but no luck.
