Is this designed to goose the opposition against the food?
Guess what I’ll be having for dinner tonight.
(First I have to figure out what the heck Foie Gras is)
lol...
It’s so moronic it’s beyond belief.
lol...
I had to look it up, too.
Yes, I really have a problem with faux gras. To save money, businesses along one street have been pulling out their grass and replacing it with plastic astroturf grass. Right now it doesn’t look bad from a distance, but wait until pieces of it start falling out.
Whenever I hear of leftists getting their knickers in a twist over Chik Fil A, that’s where I get lunch. Guess what I’ll pick up for dinner tonight?
lol...not to mention bad for the environment when that stuff gets washed into the water systems.
I just gave up eat Abe kabobs
I’ve been getting the kid’s meal at CFA lately. I get the 6 piece grilled nuggets (buffalo and ranch sauce to dip), with a fruit cup, and small drink. The trick is to tell them no “toy” and in exchange you can get a small ice cream cone. :)
Is that anything like Mardi Gras? ;-)
Did you get a chance to celebrate National Liver and Onions Day? -May 10th-
Maybe so, but without the boob flashing?
I miss all the big ‘uns.
You got them there!!!
Recognizing that people have the right to eat what they want, Foie Gras stems from a fairly despicable origin.
God demanded that the Israelites not boil a calf in its mothers milk. The Israelites strayed from His Law, and were severely chastised by oppression form the Babylonians. Intending to appease God, some Jews decided to make His Law far harsher, and thus banned consuming any dairy in the same meal as meat. Thus, Jews were prevented from eating butter if they ate meat.
Seeking a loophole in such dietary restrictions, certain people (Judaizing Christian sects as well as Jews) popularized the use of fattened, swollen, distended goose liver as a substitute for butter, force-feeding the goose so that its liver became enormously fattened.
What was the purpose of Moses’ dietary laws? God simply seeking a sign of obedience? Disease-prevention? Ritualization of slaughter to prevent callousness towards violence? I’ve heard many arguments. But foie gras? Just use butter, dammit.
I wonder if it’s anything to do with “thou shall not boil a calf in its mother’s milk?”
Interesting history. Thanks for sharing. I heard Michael Medved talk about the meat/milk deal one time on his show a long, long time ago. He basically explained it as you don’t mix milk (life) with meat/blood (death).
