Disagree. On illegal immigration, the military, trade, taxes, the Second Amendment, and many other issue, Trump is VERY conservative.

“Grim” ????????????

Lost me right there.

What could possibly be grim about electing a patriot who actually lpves his country and has a concrete plan for decent Supreme Court picks and to try to deal with the loss of jobs that this country has endured?

Grim? Really?? Pathetic.

What is “National Review”?

A once great magazine that is now run by Neo Conservatives who like the status quo and push toward a one world government. They are open border advocates. They push this hidden agenda by supporting such great presidential candidates as Bush Sr., Dole, Romney, and McCain. When they want to stop a candidate, they say he/she is not "conservative" enough. In a nutshell, their definition of conservative is whole lot different that most peoples.

Grim choices? Luke Combover is about to fire his populist torpedo down the Death Star’s throat; we just have to keep the Lie Fighters off his ass ;)

Long Live the Republic!

The problem is that the "establishment" political system is like the bamboo you stupidly planted in your backyard. It has spread its roots and shoots everywhere and anyone who is anyone at all thinks his bread is buttered by the system and if he drops it it will land right-side-up.

You can't lop it off and dig it up fast enough to save your property - you need to nuke it so that something else can grow.

NR was once as pro-American and as anti-establishment as one could get. It has lost its way.

I posted it because Mark Levin said it was "A Pretty good synopsis"

If Markhole likes it, that can only mean one thing. National Review bought a boatload of his new dog book and plan on giving it out with each new subscription.

Scarcely an ivy-leaguer among them, much less a star-studded host of Harvard-law school graduates. People pay a fortune for such branding and now?

“...Hope Trump will do what he campaigned for ...”

I think he will fight for all if it. He has proven by precedent that he gets done what he has set out to do:

http://www.nycgo.com/venues/trump-rink-in-central-park

This is one example of Trump turning around government incompetence. Here is more:

http://www.nytimes.com/1986/05/31/nyregion/trump-offers-to-rebuild-skating-rink.html

NYC and Koch, etc. failed for 6 years in the 80’s to get the infrastructure of the rink working again.

This is just ONE example that Trump actually accomplishes what he sets out to do.

Trump has Conservatives like Session and Gingrich advising him.

Clinton is 100% opposed to everything on the Conservative poltical agenda.

It is a slam dunk to all Conservatives other then the few hundred “DC Conservatives” who are behaving like petulant children because their candidate lost a primary.

I wonder if National Review can survive this election season. They are now defending Clinton and explaining why some conservatives choose her over Trump. A grim choice? No, they are making a bad decision and proving they really are not conservatives at all. Lots of hand wringing excuses, which like they worry, really is just “an evasion of reality or a shirking of civic duty”.

'Conservative/conservatism' is a political term. Trump is not a 'regular' politician, so the word 'conservative' has little meaning for his brand of politics. He is a pragmatist. 'Pragmatist/pragmatism' is not a political term. It does not fit the mold of 'regular' politics.

I no longer consider those issues “conservative” issues, but traditional American issues.

So when I said I concede that Trump is not a conservative, I should say he is not a PURE CONSERVATIVE (as define those that believe only they know the true path).

Principled Conservatism is ageless wisdom that was born in Ancient Greece, through Pericles, Solon, Aristotle, among many others. As Lord Halisham asserted, it is an attitude about and a behavior in this world centered on:
* a moral order governing Man grounded by the Natural Law,
* the Family Unit as the foundation of culture and society,
* the cold reality that we are mere dwarfs standing upon the massive shoulders of the giants of the past.
Conservatism has absolutely nothing to do w/politics, the corrupt preoccupation of frauds and hustlers; nor is its focus economics or religion.
