A teenage boy in Tennessee used hard work, planning and dedication to earn enough money to pay for college before he even starts.
I just stay away from the negativity and try to always be positive, Kevuntez King told WHBQ.
King said he grew up in a single-parent home with him mother, whose influence paved his way to success.
She just taught me how to be independent like she had it, (and) she just wanted me to go get it myself, he said.
From age 12 to 17, King sold newspapers with one goal: earn enough to pay for his entire college education. And he did just that.
When it came down to school, my mom didnt have to come out of pocket to do anything or I didnt have to take out any loans to go to school, he told WHBQ.
He earned $200 every Sunday for five years straight and was just accepted into Tennessee State University.

Best wishes to the young man. He can get a decent business course at Tennessee State.
Give it a rest. He clearly exhibited a work ethic at a young age, where do you think that came from? Conservative isn’t a skin color.
Reminds me of a fellow journalism teacher where I worked once. He’d tell the inept students when they needed it:
“If you want a career in journalism, maybe you ought to get a paper route.”
So Awesome!
Congrats to both mom and son.
If you haven't checked recently, $12K per year at a public four year institution is about average nowadays.
Nice to know some college charges $50K for a 4-year degree!

For an in-state student going to a state school, nothing unusual about this number.
2 of my kids went this route.
“Why go to college, expand your paper route and do it a few more days a week.”
That’s what I say, if he actually made two hundred every Sunday selling newspapers he is a genius at business already. He should be teaching college, not attending.
Gets beat up by anti-Trump crowd.
Whether his mother is conservative or liberal, she seems to have done a good job raising him. I just don’t think she’s conservative, and I do think she made a statement by choosing his name, as she would have made a statement by naming him Kevin or Charles.

Both are about 29K/year. I think there must be others less expensive. It’s a nice article, a guy who saved his own money, planning ahead, taking responsibility!
