'GunnyTime' host R. Lee Ermey 'blackballed' from Hollywood for conservative views

"Do you realize I have not done a movie in five to six years? Why? Because I was totally blackballed by the... liberals in Hollywood," he alleged. "They can destroy you. They're hateful people [who] don't just not like you, they want to take away your livelihood... that's why I live up in the dessert on a dirt road... I don't have to put up with their crap."

Met him many times! Very tall, loved the marine corps dogs and merchandise we gave him.

For an industry that made and still makes such an incredibly big deal about the McCarthy hearings/Hollywood Blacklist, Hollywood people have no problem blacklisting anyone and everyone they see fit.

I know, I was blacklisted.

It had nothing to do with politics. I worked for several writers in the industry and one day I couldn’t make it in to work for a very important writer. They were expecting me. I called and gave two hours’ notice. They were not happy and never called me back. I understand. But, after that, not one of the other writers I worked for ever called me back either. I was blacklisted.

Not that I cared very much although they were lovely people. Too far to drive.

Must have been a heck of a DI back in the day. He has the knack of scaring the sh*t outta you with just a frown and those flinty eyes.

Didn’t know he voted for Obama, very disappointing. Thought at the very least he would have supported a fellow vet over what we got. Some people carry a lot of white guilt I guess. Too bad. I’d exile him too. Spend his career defending this country and then hands it to a fifth columnist willingly.

From Gunny to Private Pyle in one fell swoop.

I went through my own version of blacklisting except it was in public TV.

Wrong pedigree and I could think for myself.

He lives in a dessert? Sweet! A whole lot nicer than living in a desert.

A person in Ermey’s shoes HAD to know about rev. wright and the party that was thrown in his/Obama’s church to celebrate 9/11 FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! days after the event.

“No, no, no! Not God bless America!!!! God damn America!!!! It’s in the Bible!!! God damn America!!!!”

A LOT of people can (maybe) be forgiven for voting Obama the first time around. Ermey or any other military man of his age? I don’t think so.

He has his own TV show, and about a half dozen movie credits since 2010, and he’s whining that he’s been blacklisted. What is his major malfunction?

My guess is that the 'first time around' vote was less for 0bama and more against McCain.

Gunny, you’re awesome and all. But you’re old and you’re one note. You got a much longer career in Hollywood than you probably should have. Don’t confuse being past expiration with blackballing.

My first thought as well. He had a good run playing himself for the better part of 4 decades. At 72, there's a lot of guys his age in Hollywood whose phones aren't ringing.

Wow! I like the Gunnie but that is really FUBAR! If you’re listening GSGT Ermey, drop and give me, oh, about a thousand. It ought to be more, but like the rest of us, you’re no spring chicken. :^)
