Of course the city itself will be more liberal than the outlying areas of the city, but you are fooling yourself if you think Phoenix is less conservative than any other city on that map.

It’s the only city on that list whose metro area didn’t give Obama a huge win.

You think all of Bexar county is San Antonio? Did you know that Randolph AFB, Lackland AFB, Fort Sam Houston and Brooks Army Medical Center all call Bexar county home?

And yet what were the results for Bexar county in 2012? 52% Obama, 47% Romney.

What about Philadelphia? The city itself is it’s own county and went 85% Obama to 14% Romney. The three counties that touch Philadelphia? Bucks County came close to giving Romney a win at 50% Obama, 49% Romney. Montgomery County was 57% Obama, 42% Romney. Delaware County was 60% Obama, 39% Romney.

So what other city on that list do you think is more conservative?

Just because Phoenix is liberal doesn’t mean it isn’t the most conservative city on that list. Maybe you don’t understand how liberal other cities are. If that is the case, then count your blessings.

You want to do Phoenix in late July?! Just shoot the delegates, it’ll be faster and cheaper.

>> For God’s sake we win Texas right now. <<
Are you under the misconception that host cities reward the parties they host with votes?

>> It will cost Cleveland a ton of money to have the convention. <<
See.. you explained for yourself why that doesn’t happen.

Here’s the thing: It’s costing Cleveland a ton of money because Cleveland has become a small, de-industrialized nobody. They have a police force who won’t control the mobs, a breaking-down infrastructure, and a downtown which while being not as bad as its reputation by far is a place where no-one wants to go, Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame notwithstanding. They don’t even have any malls in Cleveland anymore. They’re going to build a Potemkin village for the national spotlight, and anything they build will go to waste as soon as the convention moves on.

Tulsa, yes, even Tulsa, has far fewer suburbs, so it’s a little misleading to say it’s a much bigger city, even though the official population is much larger. But it’s a growing city. With thriving businesses that will benefit from the exposure.

You want a swing state? Albuquerque, Virginia Beach, Colorado Springs, FRICKIN’ PITTSBURGH, which isn’t much less liberal in the city limits, but actually has conservatives.

In another forum, I would never use this proxy, but do you know how many white people live in Cleveland? 100,000. There used to be 700,000. At least Pittsburgh still has twice as many. Oklahoma City has four rimes as many.

(Why that proxy? Because when an industrial inner city loses its white population, but not its black population, its because its lost its jobs base and market. No, I’m not saying blacks tend to be living off of welfare, but I am saying that inner-city blacks in quickly disappearing cities are. You know what I said about being unfair to compare cities instead of metropolitian areas for population? Here’s why it’s not entirely unfair: There’s a reason people leave cities for the suburbs.)

Think Dayton, Covington, etc. When I noted that Cincinnati had a larger metro area — and it does —, I was using a source that counted Dayton as a separate metro area

I suppose. Dayton is a little over an hour from Cinci. I can get from Cleveland to Akron in about 40 minutes. Still I believe the demo between Cleveland and Akron, Cleveland to Sandusky, Cleveland to Youngstown is still a more attractive demo. Much more farm country between Cinci and Dayton if I remember correctly.

Fair enough. But my recollection was that once you get past Brexville, it’s all national parkland until you get to Stow or Fairlawn, all the way from the interstate (77 IIRC) and the big state highway to Stow.

I do not know of any large city that is conservative. Colorado Springs may be the closest but even they have moonbats. The conservatives tend to live in the burbs and flyover country

They don’t have to be moonbat-free. They just should have enough conservatives to reliably uphold the law and to reward with our tourism and tax dollars.
